David: now that's a workbench: a discarded coach/van body, Robertson's jam jar containing a few mils of unspecified liquid, one (not two!) arch bar bogie, discarded couplings, Swann-Morton wrappers, superglue (thick variety?), anglepoise lamp, files of varying aggression, a few tins of Humbrol, a bottle of Mek-Pak or similar, paintbrushes and bog paper. The only thing missing is an Olfa cutting mat -perhaps it has been moved to one side!

The only thing that I can get anywhere near to that is a jam jar :eek::eek: and not even the version that used to give away g*******s :lipssealed:

No that's just about it. never owned many modelling tools, never had a cutting mat. The 'discarded' body is a work in progress converting a US caboose into a freelance British outline bogie brake van. The 'liquid' in the jar is an artificial medium for planting artificial flowers, sold by Dunelm for pence and put into smaller bags and sold for pounds to unsuspecting modellers as G Scale coal.

Work continues on of the coal staithes. I have now completed the four side/dividing walls. I have a problem with the last one, it's damaged already. It looks as if a coal lorry has reversed into it.

Getting ready to make some more Water Columns. I did a piece on these many moons ago and in Garden Rail. Do you think I can find either? Just chopping the bits for now, the drawing in my notebook was my reminder. They were built a few years back now, there are 2 out on the line and I need some more. Basics for 7 here so will be passing one or two onto one of my regular operators who is currently building a new Garden Railway.

Ah but there was at least one loco painted that colour, Jinty at British Oak Disposal Point near Wakefield. Probably best not to let her see this picture!

Is that orange or rust?

I had to paint a waggon orange a while ago, its a difficult colour to get a decent finish - so use that as a reason to avoid it.

I read somewhere that my country has 3400 pink automobiles. I like to try picturing them together in one place.

A little but more like a weekly roundup then just today's work, but a few projects have progressed:

I've done about as much body modification to the Jackshop Sharp as I can think to do. A bit of filling and sanding needed before it's ready for primer. I might look at doing something about the seating arrangement too.

200703 _1_.jpg
200703 _2_.jpg

My wooden 6-compartment coach has had step boards and luggage racks added. I'm now looking for sources of clear glazing for both coaches and some more suitable passengers. I've got a couple of boxes of the unpained Chinese eBay specials. They're a little small, but maybe not too noticable once seated.

200703 _3_.jpg
200703 _4_.jpg

Finally, earlier in the week I managed to get around to putting up some shelves in the workshop space meaning I can get the current projects off of the work surface and somewhere safer. It also means I've got a lot more room to work.
