Having fettled and refinished an old LGB 2 bay hopper I decided to have a go at weathering it; thinned enamel paint (a mix of brown and black) was brushed on and quickly wiped off in a vertical streak pattern. Mig weathering powders were then rubbed into the tacky finish with an old dry brush (rust on the outside, concrete on the inside - as this is an aggregate carrying car-) leaving a finish I'm happy with (the trucks are being replaced when suitable replacements can be sourced!)
