WANTED: Kadee Remote Body Mount Coupler

Can you find a '906' body-mount Kadee? - This comes with linkages that can connect to a standard servo.

Same problem, I would guess Greg..
More chance of getting OO (HO in your language ;) ) Kadee's over here than large-scale..
A niche, within a niche.. I guess?

If Mike can get a body mount Kadee, to fit his loco.. Then I can supply a servo (if he has not got one already) and am looking into how toconnect to the release on the coupler.

Put some feelers out, but not really the right time of the year, for quick responses..
 
Gaugemaster are listing the Kadee 906 coupler for £10.50.

They also list a 1906 coupler. - Same price.

The difference being ? 1000 ? :giggle: - The 906 comes with a 'gearbox' ?? Which I think means it has some movement, due to a couple of springs in the body ??? But DON'T quote me on that! :shake:

Turns out if you look carefully, all you need is a small piece of chain on the knuckle, even easier than fitting a crank to the "glad hand".

Sorry Phil but no Oops is needed!

The thread is about the 11220. That is the all-in-one unit with the chain linkage.

Greg appears to have confused us by referring to the 11120 to label an image of the 11220:

Perhaps he will be kind enough to confirm.

I use a standard servo, jewerly chain and drill a hole in the side of a standard Kadee coupler and make it work. I have over 10 of these mounted on engines and figure my cost per loco (I do both ends) is under $20 US. Also I use the Zimo decoders on my DCC system and program the engines for a 'waltz). This is a single key operation that makes the engine reverse/open knuckle /then move forward with the coupler still open. Now I can push the cars backwards without coupling. I then move away from the cars and turn off my uncoupling feature and the knuckle closes.

I would just love to see how you connected your jewellery chain to the side of a standard KD coupler.

yes, screwed up part number, (I am on vacation, on the opposite side of the continent)... the first 3 posts were about the other unit, just reinforcing the better choice.

The first units did not use that little arm on the coupler pin, I'm pretty sure, I seem to remember the chain connected to the knuckle itself.

I will look for an early picture.
