Wanted 900 mm Radius Curved Track

Steve, a suggestion well worth considering, Mike is currently looking to see what he has, can I get back to you Ta :)

Just let me know if you need them. I think I have 2 Trainline 45 90cm radius points if those are of interest, I though they were LGB R2 but looking on the Trainline website they say 90cm

Here you go Jimmy. This is what I can lay my hands on ATM - I have more and there MIGHT be some different radii elsewhere. From the middle outwards are LGB R1, LGB R2, Aristo-craft 6.5ft (approx. 2000mm) diameter, LGB R3, USA Trains 10ft (approx. 3060mm) diameter, unmarked but probably Aristo 11ft (approx. 3360mm) diameter, LGB R5, Aristo-craft 20ft (approx. 6120mm) diameter.
The Aristo-craft 6.5ft stuff has only been used on an indoor display for a couple of days at Easter. The rest has seen regular outdoor use, but I may have some unused LGB R2 somewhere. If anything takes your fancy, please message me for price and shipping - no rush.

They do take PayPal.

.....but with a surcharge, as I mentioned a few posts back. ML are unusual in still doing that, these days the majority of German dealers are happy to take Paypal without extra charges, as we are more used to over here.

Jon.

Mike, where do Aristo measure their diameter figures from and to? Is it centre-line of track, or to outer edge? If Jimmy's space requirement is particularly tight, that may affect the decision.....?

Not if you buy from their eBay shop as they are not allowed to do so by eBay!

I'm not sure if that is still the case paying directly as EU changed the law a few months ago to ban surcharging.

Hi Jon. I'd put the track back, but just got it out again. From crawling around on the lawn I'd guess it's taken from the centre line or INNER rail. Try as I might I couldn't get the outer edge to fit inside both 78ins diameter AND 39ins radius despite the flexible nature of the curves (of which 6 make up a half-circle).

They are measured centre to centre. I might suggest downloading the free Anyrail software as they have Aristo, LGB and Piko tracks in the library then mixed makes could be laid out and the exact space needed measured.

I made this chart up a few weeks ago....

The Accucraft UK track are the same sizes as the Aristocraft but with brown rather than black sleepers.

Fair enough, maybe they've been forced to stop doing it now.... they certainly still were last time I bought something from them (sometime late last year?).
I think they got around the eBay limitation by simply not listing PP as an eBay payment option, something that a lot of German sellers do (or certainly did).

Jon.

Thanks Martin - OK, so it looks like they've now had to change their old policy - wonder if that now applies to ALL German dealers on eBay?
That's good news, as I've sometimes avoided ML for things that I could find elsewhere because of their attitude to (and charges for) using Paypal.

Jon.

Mike many thanks, I have loads of LGB R1, and a few LGB R3, what I need is enough (any make) to a half circle (minimum) 900 - 1000 mm radius, no real rush, just wish to get my first full circuit finished during the summer so that i can enjoy it.
Jimmy not sure if you have a load but you could recurve R1's if you can manage to borrow a Rail Bender from someone near you? Though not cheep a Massoth Rail Bender will do bot rails at once, you only need to cut the inner webb and Roll your rails to get what you want. R1's can be had as cheep as chips thse days somit may almost be cost effective. There will be a slight mismatch on length of each rail but this can be accoodated by having non equal Rail Joints.

If I go "straight" then turning each alternative set around will keep the lengths matched.

I have have some Piko R5 and LGB R3 points (similat size) possibly spare. Also a pair a Trainline 900mm radius points.
