Vallejo acrylic paint

Recently I acquired a Bachmann American style passenger/parcel car. V s/h it looked as if it had been painted in high gloss paint with a rusty nail in the dark.
Not fancying stripping it back I decided to try matt varnish first.
Current mobility issues meant visiting my closest model shop wasn’t a favoured option and so I had a look online. All the usual familiar names looked to be overpriced and slow on delivery until I came across Vallejo acrylic. It is a name I had heard of but never encountered previously.
Minimum order was 3x17ml bottles, more than I really wanted but same day delivery.
I ordered at midday yesterday and the order arrived within 6hrs!
This morning I tried a brushed test piece - far too thick but as it is water soluble I added a little water to just a few drops.
The coverage is astonishing, those few drops of paint covered the entire sides and ends of the coach.
I now need to find a use for 2 bottles and 98% of the 3rd bottle.
My wife has taken up painting and so I foresee most if not all of it going there.

I'm using Humbrol acrylic from Hobbies, buying online and find that very good in gloss.

Could we see a photo or two, please?

For those interested in US prototypes here is a handy colour reference chart. Max

I used these paints for my OcCre Street Car, they seem to be very good, I will be giving them a go in my air brush sometime soon

I’ve used them, note they come in two different versions.
- Model Colour which is for brushing.
- Model Air which is the correct cansistency for airbrushing.

They airbrush better than Lifecolour acrylics which I find tend to clog my airbrush.

Very little to see, all I have done is to cover the gloss green which highlighted the irregularities in the paint beneath, with a flat varnish.
It has worked well saving me the chore of stripping the old paint.

Yeah, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but there are times when you think, why one earth did he do that?

The matt varnish has done a good job

What I found especially puzzling was that the original paint finish seemed to have peeled or been stripped in patches yet, the decals were undamaged,
Strange.

Perhaps the decals cut UV damage to the original paint?
Or an over-coating of varnish did likewise?
