Trouble getting LGB 45352 Coke Car to play sounds

I have an old LGB 45352 Coke Car. It has a Massoth Melody-Sound board in it with no other numbers on the board.
The processor chip does have a label showing LGB 45352-35-1. Problem: No sound produced with fresh good 9V battery.

I'm attaching a picture hoping someone out there knows how to get this working or determine if it's dead. It was wired as shown when I got it.
As you can see, there's a blue potentiometer, left side, under board name.
Please notice a red and black wire with female terminal connectors on one end, right side, and unattached plugs on the other end.
The female Black connector is hooked to 'SW' on board. The Red to 'rt' on the board.
The black & red plugs at the other end were not connected to anything. Just hanging.
There's a screw down connector below the on-off switch but they do nothing when I pushed the plugs into that.

I look forward to any tips you may have.
Thank you
Nato

This card needs track power to work.
Supposing the 9V battery is connected to the card, this will allow the melody to continue, if you come to a stop on an analogue track. - On DCC, there is always power on the track.

I assume that this car does not have pickups on the wheels, so the red and black plugs can be used to supply power from a loco with the two round sockets on the back.

You’re like my personal G scale guru.
I don’t remember any locos with sockets but I’ll double check.
Also thanks for the tip about metals over plastic on my other post.
Much appreciated

For reference if you haven't got the correct socket, or don't want to plug it in you can add a second 9v battery to the track power (red and black wires) and that tricks it in to thinking it's powered on.

This is exactly the answer. Took me far too long to work this out!

For the locos with sockets, there are the old two circular plugs (which looking at the photo, you have the plugs for in the wagon) or the newer square(ish plugs) that may have a cover (example here from our very own ge_rik ge_rik 's site)
