Trains return to the EG&SNNR for 2010

Was running one of my favourite locos today:

but whilst doing so found an area of track where the trackbed is disintegrating and causing power supply problems:wits:

Normally I use aerated bricks for the trackbed but in this case I used an odd piece of recycled breeze block that was just the right size for the job. That was a mistake - the breeze block is breaking up and needs to be replaced....

The workers, under the control of the gaffa on the wagon balcony, were busy digging out some of the mess...

Line closure will following but, luckily, there is an alternative route so trains can continue to run

After leaving the wagons and workers at the worksite MOB Ge4/4 no. 8003 continued on it's merry way:

..and whilst on the diversionary route another problem was unearthed - a dead section of track on the point under the loco:

Attempts were made to clean the visible point contacts but could get nothing registering on the voltmeter. Long term solution will probably mean following ntpntpntp's suggestions involving the removal of the point but, in the short term, Kiddo is coming to the rescue sending a supply of his brass sticky tape

Stockers was back here today knocking up a bit of woodwork

...and, of course, we had to run a train. Stockers provided the loco, wagons came from the EG&SNNR

Not sure if the Harz 2-6-2T was on loan to the RhB or the RhB wagons were on loan to the HSB:thinking:

Later the train was seen climbing one of the many inclines on the EG&SNNR

...and later seen disappearing into the undergrowth on its way back to the Isle of Oxney:wave:

At the same time the Selters-Hachenburg diesel railcar was seen ambling around the EG&SNNR:

Stockers did a video of the railcar so hopefully it will be posted in due course. Looking forward to seeing it myself...

Did you notice the railcar stopped accelerating whilst the gear changed - then accelerated away. Tis lovely.

Stockers was back here this afternoon to complete the work started the end of last week. While he finished and I popped up to Wickes to get a couple of odds & ends the Drewery Diesel was working a Lynton & Barnstaple Freight:

Later it was time to let the Station Pilot out on the main line. Attached to the end of the train is Stockers' new DR baggage coach acquired over the weekend

To end the afternoon Stockers latest acquisition, a DR Tram loco (dcc fitted) was let loose on the main line. Stockers was a happy bunny

Lovely warm sunny day today in the far SouthEast - drove over to Faversham today for some retail therapy but no G-Scale to collect:thumbdown: - so had to run a train late this afternoon

Train was behaving itself today - great

It's that time of the year to start getting rid of all the dead daffodils, crocus and tulips etc. so needed something running in the garden to keep me company....yesterday it was Heidi running bunker first on a works train

Today it was overcast until late afternoon but then it was wall-to-wall sunshine. Heidi was back, running right way round, on a shorter works train:

All in all, a good weekend's work...but still loads of daffodils, crocus and tulips to consign the the great garbage dump in the sky

Today thought I'd run something different....and a bit of standard gauge main line. As you can see. Mr Piko is at the controls

It was the first time that I'd run the 6-wheelers which, apart from the last coach, have been fitted with metal wheels (which are larger than the LGB metal wheels). The coaches, themselves, are quite heavy and were a bit stiff so think some judicial oiling would be beneficial before the next run.
