Depending on the time available, plan B might be a small line (oval and a siding
or two) just to get the feel of working outdoors. Then if there's another move we'll have to see what the next garden's like.

Incidentally Vic, how's yours coming along? Is the new extension off to the left hand side going to make it?

Not for the time being, had to move some stuff out of the house and into the garage for visiting guests, been a month since they left but the stuff is still there, need to do some serious ebaying out there.

World War 1 supply line to the "front". ​

Dig up the lawn...get in a ton or good earth.
Lay track. Make shell craters. Barbed wire available in model form anyway.
Plenty of locos O&K etc., and also locos in diesel form and rolling stock (see Andel and IP).
Plenty of model military personel and tanks and guns available if you Google.
Used .22 cartridge cases from local gun club can be used as spent shell cases .

(Well...its a thought for someone looking for something different).

Yes, on both counts, I'd say.

There are several of these locos preserved in France - the Tacot des Lacs line has at least one and there's another in West France - think it's on the Ile d'Oleron tramway, but when the pine trees on the dunes are dry in Summer they don't tend to use it. I'd also be surprised if there wasn't another on the Froissy-Cappy-Dompierre line as they specialise in WW1 narrow gauge.

As you probably all appreciate, there is some play in track, escpecially second hand track with weakened fishplates.....
First of all we have what Railmodeller said that I had built...

Then we have my attempt to get rail modeller to portray what I had actually built, although the bits would be wrong..

And finally the photo of what I'd built

This was back in May. Large chunks taken up and some relaid.
Hopefully get to do more this weekend.

Indeed you do mate but I think the original is still in my back garden!!! and the signals are waiting in the shed for a reappearence when I close the line.................

Heres my effort. I'm constrained by two sheds and a conservatory in my back yard. I was determined to use minimum R3 curves and I managed this by creating a figure of eight instead of following the edge of the yard. I saw a flat crossing ages ago, on I think nettys old setup and liked it muchly, so now I have my own. So, each of the points and curves are R3 and it takes my Lawley + 8 wagons about 40 seconds to complete the circuit. Not too bad. The only chance for expansion is down the side of the house so I might make that some sort of fiddle yard.(Can you have a fiddle yard in a garden line?) At the moment I've no idea what the purpose of the line is, I was thinking it could be part of some sort of industrial complex or an estate line.....frankly, who cares I just like to run trains. The single siding is used for locomotive stabling the other two sidings are for shunting. At some point the small yard will get a headshunt so I can have two trains working indepenently.
