There is a FART already, on the Swiss Italian border....

Don't forget the Tunbridge Wells and Eridge Railway Preservations Society.

Very sensibly, they now call themselves the Spa Valley Railway....

And................ while not railway related, but genuine

ACAS were orginally going to be called

Joint Arbitration and Concilliation Advisory Service

So if the Scottish Highlands want an Interchange Tramway they might have to watch their step :Looser:

Just found your post 967 with the new sheep on board.
They really do look good, I?m looking forward to getting back and rounding up my own.
The new station platform is also looking ?lived in? now, with all the goods and other paraphernalia of a working station spread along it.
STAR! NEW?S & STANDARD! sprains to mind!

Yet another reason for regretting not being back for the show.

Lovely day today, just a bit windy. :nail::nail:

Anyhoo, trains were run. The down service was provided by WGLR No.1,

- talking of the old GIT, thanks to some great folks on this forum, I now have the track to complete the new section of tramway. The recent rain may have been a pain as far as running days were concerned, but at least it has settled the new ground and I'm planning to get the proper slabs down fairly soon.

This is a mock-up of the track plan. Fans of the Wisbech & Upwell may recognise a passing resemblance to Boyce's Bridge, all be it a mirror image. This is not a passing loop, one line will be the running line, the other a siding with access from either end.

Nice pic's Mel had a chance to run a small train today my RDC3 Railcar

If the W&U still existed today, it might possibly have a touch of 'Ruritania' about it.

A mate who flys the Air Ambulance calls the town 'Wisbeckistan'....

A couple of jobs done today before an afternoons train running.

First, Giles very kindly sent me a brake standard which has been painted and fixed in the guards compartment of the GIT brake coach. Thanks Giles.

I also decided to model an open window in one of the guards doors and fit a Bachmann Branchline guard in position. I could have saved myself a lot of trouble if I'd done this when I first built the coach, but hey ho, it's done now.
The photo makes the resin coach look a bit crude, but bear in mind that it's probably twice real size, it looks much better in "the flesh".

The last time I ran the Bachmann Baldwin No.5, she appeared to be a little stiff (nowhere near run-in yet), so I decided a little lube was in order. Taking the gearbox cover off just confirmed what cracking value for money this loco is. The fully metal gear train with metal valve gear is absolutely brilliant in a loco costing around £170. Having done a few minutes running on the bench, she was put into service on a train of mixed WGLR and GIT passenger stock. Needless to say, she now runs like a Swiss watch - fast becoming my favourite loco.

BTW, this battery RC wagon has had it's 10 AA re-chargeable batteries swapped for one of the Chinese Lithium-Ion jobs. I think that this is the 4th day that I've run with it (spread over about 5 weeks due to the weather) as well as using it a couple of times for bench testing. I've just put the multi meter on it and it's still showing a charge of 11.5 volts, which is about half way to needing a re-charge.

Oooh I like those photo's Mel. That Baldwin really looks the part now! I particularly like the shot on the bridge.... that's the one thing I really regret not having on my line yet, a good bridge.

Those batteries sound excellent. Pity I cannot fit one in my tram loco, and I didn't make provision for a trail car connection....

Its all looking great Mel. Love the Baldwin with a bit of muck on it. Sounds like a good build.

looks great mell, keep the current going!

Mel looks like you enjoyed your birthday and the Baldwin does indeed look fabulous, I can understand why it is becoming a firm favourite.
