Exactly! I've got a long list and know just what you mean Mel! Looking great... I'd go for MOD base over tramway I think...
 
First job today was to give the loading bay a lick of paint (the side walls are still to be done properly) so that it could be lined up accurately - meaning that I could actually pin down the standard gauge track. Nice to get the end loading siding properly lined up.

The parcels van and brake van were used to check clearances as they are my two widest vehicles.

The narrow gauge line was raised to the correct height. The LGB track doesn't look right next to the Cliff Barker track, so will be replaced with 5' of Peco code 250 when I can get some.

The height of the loading bay doesn't quite line up for unloading the CARFIT wagon. I'm imagining that, as such loads probably wouldn't be handled that often in this station, the staff might cobble together a suitable ramp out of a few old sleepers?

What code rail is the Cliff Barker track then Mel?

I agree that code 250 Peco would look much better....

Also code 250 mate, so if I can track down some Peco gauge 1, that would be even better (providing it would be OK with Bachmann wheels). We're just planning a trip to see what Steve Warrington's got in stock, possibly tomorrow. :bigsmile:

Peco G1 track is code 200, so it should look even better, although the sleeper size look strange?

You can always hide them in a good representation of cinder ballast though....

Looking better each time I visit this topic. :)
Regarding the track, if it doesn't look right something needs changing.
I reckon the narrow gauge rail section shouldn't be heavier than the standard. The same for both may be acceptable if it looks O.K. I think the exchange sidings at Blaenau Ffestiniog used to have some two foot track made from standard gauge components and the level crossing across the standard gauge on the rebuilt Welsh Highland has the same section (113 lb per yard in proper units) rail for both railways within Network Rails boundary.
 
So as predicted, we had a run over to Back2Bay6 (plus lunch of course) and picked up some code 250 track for the raised siding - or rather, the rail and sleepers to MAKE some code 250 track. It all went together fine, although I did miscalculate slightly on the sleeper spacing and ran out just short of the end - a couple of cut down LGB sleepers and a buffer stop disguised this slight blip.

The new track is joined to the existing LGB track at the top of the (temporary) ramp via special Peco connectors. These are plastic, but a thin metal strip can be inserted for carrying track power. They are also a VERY tight fit and I found it best to file the new track down slightly.

Great work Mel. Good call to use 250 track. I have heard of 'G' flanges catching on code 200 rail (on the chair tops).
