When is the line set then Mel? I wondered if the original W&G would have been absorbed into the GWR?

Not neccasarily James, many narrow gauge lines were passed over by the grouping which didn't happen until the 1920's.

PS - there's no AND, Wetton and Gooey doesn't work.

Number 3 looks very impressive I like the high tanks, makes her look industrial and rugged. Almost suggests there's a reason behind it being so different to the original 2 engines

Whilst it isn't the prettiest loco out there I do like it as it has a purposeful look about it, rather like a Neilson loco only different :thinking:

Also puts me in mind of Peter Jones' original CDR No.1

The loc has a real belt and braces feel to it. I know that I know little about the real prototypes but I've counted the rivets and they all seem to be there!

I like her Mel. I suspect the design brief for such a loco does not include how pretty she is. More tank, more water, more traction just what a little worker like that needs. Will she be finished for a debut at Cogges?

Not long got back from visiting Mel this afternoon. It was good to see all his handiwork "in the flesh" and hear of his future plans (Hank the yank might have more work to do soon! ).
He's been t'internetless for a week (and hopes to back on tomorrow) so this is my [strike]chance[/strike] excuse to post a couple of pics.
I only took a few as we were mainly nattering and then it turned a "little" inclement!

The passenger passing a goods train waiting in the yard, the goods loco is Mel's bruiser and if I remember correctly is now called "Thomas Telford" and will be numbered 3.

Yes indeed, No3 has been named Thomas Telford, put into service and even got a bit mucky.

Number plates and various odds and ends have been fitted since this photo was taken.

Finally got around to a job I've been thinking of doing for a while - fitting name boards to the signal boxes. I used the letters from Cooper Craft OO station name boards left over from my indoor railways days in the late 80's / early 90's, but my stock of letters was getting low, so I had a drive over to Modellers Mecca and bought a new packet. I was amazed at how rubbish the new ones are. The plastic used to make the letters must be the cheapest old rubbish available and they're absolutely surrounded by flash. Don't half take some doing to make them usable.

Looks like Castle Halt's name board needs some attention too?

I've also given some of the shops in Stockers Row a tidy up. I got a load of little real metal signs from Llanfair. They were a bit expensive, but I'm really pleased with them. I wanted a Corgi sign for the toy shop, but couldn't find one. A trawl of ebay came up with 4 cheap badges, one of which is ideal for the shop window. Were you a Corgi or Dinky boy?

Finally, a pic I took the other day. 3782 shunts the exchange sidings at Gooey. Slightly different to the one I posted in the gauge 3 conversions thread.

Mel it's the cohesive-ness of your railway that is so inspiring. It's not just a trainset or diarama in the garden - it's a real little railway and these little details aren't bringing the railway to life, they're stitching it together into reality. Wonderful! One day I hope I can visit with some of the EJ&KLR stock and evoke some early W&L preservation memories with the Frank S conversion and Zillertal coaches
