Not quite the same, but in a similar vein, when I repainted my LGB DR diesel loco Ko6503, from black to green, I decided to paint the rerailing jack from black to orange. I think it helps to give the model a bit of a lift by picking out the detail. The colour choice was mine, given that the Claptowte Railway is freelance.
