The Ochsenwaldbahn Line - from the begining again.

I bet that Saxon doesn't go on the track that easily
I have had 2 of them and they were not that bad. The one that is the real pain is the Harz 2-10-2t. I use a length of LGB Tram Road Platform ref 50340 as a railer and it works just fine. Plonk loco on the Platform and just j j jiggle it a bit as Arkwright would say.

Sadly lots of your older pics have been lost in the move to GSC, having visited your line I was interested to see all the older stuff. Are you now just running on the small loop by the House or have you restored the field sections yet?

There in lives a tale - I have just lifted the field section. My garden has become infested with brambles - blackberrys. Nice to eat, nearly impossible to get rid of. I have tried cutting back the growth, spraying the leaves, chopping off at ground level - all with no long term effect. So this spring the garden is getting a major makeover, along with the railway.
By a major rebuild - I mean major - I will be hiring a spade --

Also arriving shortly is a couple of pallets of celcon blocks, a big bag of ballast, loads of old sleepers and heck of a load more track.
The only bit I am keeping the same is that station on the brick wall near the house and that will be lifted, levelled and relaid because after ten years it does have the odd wobble on it.

and the tree surgeon is booked for the week after next!

:D

Lots of pictures please Alan...

What was it like before? - If you have pictures??
Please..

Nice Alan, love the new LGB open top coach and the brake coach as well

Where did you pick up your DR open coach from, Alan - UK stockist or direct from Germany?

That particular rake looks good behind the 1k!
I now have three of the 1k locos, two of them LGB electrics (one green, one DR black) and a lovely little live steam one from MBV Schug (Accucraft Germany), courtesy of Simon at Anything Narrow Gauge - had looked covetously at it over the course of several shows in 2016, finally weakened at the little Dunstable show towards the end of the year..... Tag was very encouraging and I eventually got the credit card out....
The interesting thing is that the Schug one is just about the same size as the LGB ones, if not even a smidge smaller, but is claimed to be to 1:20.3 scale - this is in reality quite a tiny loco, and the LGB one has obviously been "rubber ruler-ed" so that it isn't too dwarfed by the rolling stock.

Garden Railway Center. Same price as Germany (Modell-land et al, at 1.10) and postage was an amazingly low £3.95

I suppose, being a 750mm gauge loco, LGB make theirs a bit on the large side to match the meter gauge jobbies. I covet Schugs IIIK

Simon had one of those (a IIIk) too, most likely from the same original home as the Ik, but that got sold quite quickly - and for a not-unreasonable price, about £1400 I think...... the beauty of the little Ik is that it will handle pretty much any radius of curve, while the Schug IIIk and VIk demand at least R3, if not more.

The other nice thing about the Schug Ik is that the motion doesn't stick out way past the side tanks, unlike the LGB ones.... ;)

Great looking train alan

I think this picture shows the trouble I am having with brambles. Hence the make over.

Ah........
Did not realise how far back this thread went..
I may need to borrow your 'spade' this year.. I *think* (negotiations ongoing) I may need a long shallow hole.. Some geo-textile matting.. 15 tonnes (or more) of 1:1 ballast.. Oh, and a twenty foot track panel!!!

I may have sourced a long narrow shed.. (fingers crossed)!
