Been busy today (and suffering for it now) preparing my indoor layout for it's new points motors that I collected yesterday from Gizzy. Got to cut the board a little as the pin from the motor won't quite reach. Preparation well under way.

There'll be some pictures soon. I'll be putting the first motor in tomorrow.

looking damed good steve.. keep up the good work..

Today (with a little assistance) I installed the Traintronic DCC points motors that were acquired for me by Gizzy  This motor drives from beneath the point, so have to disassemble the layout. You can see the drive pin in the picture.

I then had to drill a hole through the cross bar of the point, and then through the base board. The hole through the base board acts as a pilot hole. I then had to remove the point and cut the back out of the point to allow the drive pin to move.

Once the point was removed, I then enlarged the pilot hole, this is where the motor drive pin will come through.

I then turned the board and had to cut out a recess in the board to install the motor.

I have wired up the points and clipped the wires in place. These wires are twisted as it says in the instructions to cut out interference. I will have to access these wires next week once my Massoth comes back, to set the point addresses. The thick black wire is the track power pickup, the loose wire laying across the board is the lead that will lead to the point on the next board. It has a plug connected in line to allow the wire to be disconnected when separating the boards.

Ballast all put back, just have to do something with the grass, I'll have a look at the later.

Nice work Steve!

A slightly different method of mounting compared to me though, as I drilled a hole in the baseboard at the side of my point where the tie bar rectangular slot is for an LGB motor or switch. I then mounted the DCC Concepts unit so that the actuating pin was through the slot.

Your way of drilling a hole in the centre of the tie bar works just as well though....

I now have to start thinking about a name for the layout.
Answers on the back of a £20 note please:thumbup:
Adam Smith 1723-1790........Strange name for a layout though.

Busy day here today.

Started off by trying to sort the point motors out, but the throw wasn't enough. So back to the drawing board.

Gotta go back to yer physics lessons at school, Steve,

EFL FLE FEL - otherwise known as Effel (as in Ethel), fleed and fell. Bet Gizzy's used one of these, it's the basics of levers :bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile:

Been busy over the last few days, creating a new signal box, here it is so far.

Painting is now in progress.

Did you decide on a name, Steve? In keeping with the Creaky Beaver's suggestion, but to give it a rather more US urban feel, what about calling is "Easy STREET Yard".....? ;)

Jon.
