The EM&BHR

I've decided to start a new thread about the EM&BHR.

At the moment, my Massoth 1200Z is in Germany being repaired, so I've had to revert (temporarily) back to analogue. I found to run my locos (which are all chipped, I'll come back to that, as I have a question to ask) I have to keep the track really clean. Well, as I have my arm in a sling (for the next 3 weeks) you'll appreciate that cleaning the track is a bit of a problem. So, with the help of a friend I've come up with this solution. I've adapted an LGB cleaning block

We cut a couple of blocks of wood, one to go on top of the block, and the other inside

We then attached everything to a handle (which had bee cut at an angle)

Here it is at work

It's not the best job in the world, but it works.

a busy day steve, you must be cream crackered:bigsmile::thumbup:

A couple of pictures from today. Once I get rid of this sling, I'll start doing some more work on the railway.

Thanks for that Mel, I was quite pleased with that one

Nice pics, Steve, making the most of the nice weather!
What was the question (re chipped locos) that you were going to ask in your first post? Couldn't see any reference to it further on.....

Jon.

I posted it on the Analogue section Jon. But my Massoth will be back next week

I (with the help of a mate) have installed a new siding here's a few pics of it

There will be further changes to this siding, but I need a few pieces of track for that, but this is a start.

The further changes are the points will be moved to the left by one track making the left track the siding and not the central. The central will be connected to the main line.

Is it a siding or a loop Steve?

Couldn't quite make out if there is a point at the far end....

Its all looking good Steve.

Today after a short discussion with Lone Ranger, I decided to have a go at Double heading a couple of my Shorties.
So with the help of a mate (certain things I still can't do, like hold a drill) this is how it was done.

Firstly I removed the front knuckle coupler

Followed by the front pony truck

A small pilot hole was drilled just infront of the pony truck mount.

A small chain was then fed through the hole where the front knuckle used to sit.

The chain was then fastened with a small screw, this is where the pilot hole was drilled.

The pony truck was then reattached. A pilot hole was then drilled into the front frame and a hook attached to hold the chain when running solo.

A hole was then drilled into the rear frame of the tender and another hook attached.
