I don't think I've posted these before but if I'm repeating myself wheel me back into the corner!

Back in the day on the White Pass & Yukon, before the highway linked Skagway with the interior, folks visiting Alaska and the Yukon could take their vehicles by ferry from the lower 48 and transfer to train at Skagway. As an American car fan this seemed a great thing to model and display some of my model car creations and to run on my WP&YR inspired layout. This is a train I have been building up for quite a while now, but thought I'd pitch some photos in of its latest iteration. Of course there had to be a VW as well, there seems to be one in every photo I have seen of a White Pass 'motorail' train!

Good addition for your railway, BUT.....where is the model sidings for loading and unloading the vehicles ?
….that can be part of operations on the railway.

Yes, we put the cart before the horse on that one! I'm still to find a siding we can use for that facility although thinking about it I have a cunning plan........

Love the pick-up with the canoe!
Thanks, yes did a bit weathering practice on it and got my balsa wood carving tools out for the canoe. The fishing rod is a tad on the large side, but I found a suitable kebab stick in the kitchen draw which I thought would work for the handle so that set the scene for that piece of the puzzle!

Your cars and trains look great, like the real thing. I am thinking about buying some diecast cars for my layout but do not know what scale goes with my LGB rolling stock. Thanks for the great pictures. Also thanks to all who may comment on my question.

1:24 is quite a common scale for diecast cars which is near enough.

I use 1:24 & 1:25 diecast and plastic kits, for my vehicles. Plastic is best for rolling stock loads as its obviously lighter and on my gradients makes for longer trains!

Being a British outline outfit, set in the past, the Claptowte Railway has acquired a couple of iconic British motors from the 60's. I actually learned to drive on a Morris Minor, although not a Traveller.

If anyone knows where I could obtain a 1:24th scale one these I'd be pleased to find out. Franklin Mint does a 1:24th scale 1941 Cadillac Fleetwood limo, at a price, but ours is a Series 62 Sedan, so different body. It would be great to have it on a flat car on the railway! Cheers, Malc

On ebay I see a lot of vehicles listed that are 1:32 not to many 1:24. Would the 1:32 size look out of place with the G scale trains. Thanks

1:32 would be okay for standard gauge trains (like G 1 scale) but maybe too small for narrow gauge (like G IIm).

BTW I got over 20,000 hits when I searched for "diecast vehicles 1:24" on ebay, ranging in cost from £4 upwards.
