Hi,

I`ve been a member here for sometime but I don`t think that as of yet I`ve introduced myself or my railway.

I`m Malc from the North Wilts area, I`ve been involved with G scale for some 20 plus years now and in that time have had 2 garden railways. Some may remember my first attempt, the Possum Creek and Alpine Pass RR from open days with the SW area group of the G Scale Soc.

After a house move in 2006, a new plan was formulated, construction began, and finally became a reality 3 or 4 years ago. I moved from US Colorado narrow gauge as an inspiration to the White Pass and Yukon, after my wife Tracey and I honeymooned in Alaska! Thus was born the Tidewater and Lake Teslin RR, a branch off the WP & YR from Carcross to the state capital of Juneau - quite a flight of fancy I know!

The line is basically a circuit with a spiral one end and a folded loop at the other, plenty of opportunity for steep gradients, tunnels, bridges and tight curves as per the real White Pass. Stock is mainly LGB and Bachmann with a bit of USA trains thrown in in. Obviously we couldn`t be without a couple of LGB Alcos!

I`ve dropped in a couple of pictures to set the scene...

As others have said, I don't know quite which is more impressive, the railway or the garden!

I'm interested to know about the bridge in pictures GSC1 and GSC2 because I'm planning something similar for my (not yet started) attempt to model a bit of the Y&WPR. Did you buy the sections and supports ready made, or did you make them yourself? What are they made from?

Thanks for all the positive comments, I'll try to sort some more pictures of developments on the railway and post in the appropriate sections here.

The viaduct pictured is made from mild steel angle and strip from B & Q. I fabricated the piers from angle on the bench and then set them in position and concreted them in. Once set I fabricated the deck from steel strip and welded in to position in situ. I then used spare sleepers with the Peco flexi, cut all the webs off, slid all the sleepers closer together to give a more deck like feel.
