WHAT A GREAT FUN PLACE!

talk about an accident waiting to happen:-
- No Fencing
- No supervision on track crossings
- kids running over tracks
All of these things not allowed on a small line that I looked at for 5 minutes in Watford this year, bloody H&S wonks in this country.

The problem is that people here now expect to be protected from every danger, therefore common sense no longer prevails. It is obvious that a large mass of moving metal will kill you, and if that isn't obvious then there is only one description: Natural Selection.

There was the tragic case on the Cambs/Essex border a few years ago of 2 young teenage girls killed crossing the tracks, despite the crossing warning lights being on red.

They were hurrying to catch a train already at the platform about to leave for Cambridge. Sadly, they were killed by a Stansted bound train.

The parents blamed Network Rail, because the gates were not' locked' to prevent them crossing. I believe legal discussion regarding this case is still on going....

Sorry for the thread drift, but the one that really gets up my nose is Britannia Bridge at Porthmadog, where there is now the short tramway section for the WHR. Numerous cyclists have flung themselves from their bikes by getting the wheels caught in the grooves. I have nothing against cyclists at all (I cycle myself), but is it really that difficult to either cross the rails at right angles or get off and push the bike across that 2ft gap? But then again, I stop at red lights, get off and walk across Zebra crossings and don't try squeezing up the inside of an articulated lorry. Rant over.
That railway in the vid above is excellent, and in the middle of it all, a BR standard class 7!
