Stuck in bed

Looks like a long stay in bed following recent operation so would like to know what would be a suitable tool kit to enable me to do a bit of kit building in bed or a least in my wheelchair using a small table.

Piece of good strong board with an A4 size cutting mat. Steel ruler, craft knife, set square or small engineers one. Some Nail Boards pencil, rubber and sharpener. Plus some card. Rocket sticks, coffee stirrers and Copydex Glue should see you ok for some modest card models. Surprising what you can create with this.

Take good care of yourself, so that you can come back better than ever.

And don't go using any super-glue. You may find yourself stuck TO the bed, not just in it! :eek::D:D

Try to have fun while you get mobile again.

I'm tempted to say, that if the finished article is going outside, then you need to spend a bit of money on a Piko or Pola kit. Anything other than plastic will require painting as you go, and that's not going to be easy on a simple bedside table set up.

But it's a good plan, to have something that you can take up and put down as the mood takes you while you're convalescing.

Take care, and get back to normal soon :clap::clap::clap::clap:

Get better soonest matey

Just an idea..

Have a search for a 'potting station'. - Used for holding compost and sundries for potting up in a greenhouse..
Will hold all your 'bits' in one easy to move place.

You wouldn't need the sieve, but it might come in useful for ballast?
Yes you need a tray with a lip round it otherwise you'll be forever searching for tiny screws and other bits and pieces that fall to the floor.

In terms of tools it depends on what materials you going to work with, but I would suggest
Cutting mat
steel safety rule
Stanley knife
Files
Razor saw
Glue and brushes
Paint and brushes

And have you thought about doing some foamboard modelling?scribing bricks will pass the time quite easily

I made the body panels for a couple of boxcars while recuperating from my hip replacement. When I was more mobile I put the boxcars together.
As I knew I was going to be laid up for a while before I went to hospital I cut out the chassis floor because and as I used pieces of timber for the underframes all I needed was my;
small mitre box
razor saw
some PVA glue
a cutting mat
some paper clips to act as clamps
pin vice and drill set.

I also made my bogies out of styrene so I used my;
tin snips to roughly cut out the shape
a small hand drill with bits to drill out holes
files to shape holes and smooth off rough edges

These and a lot of the things mentioned above.

Sitting filing pieces of plastic is very calming, passes the time away and keeps the mind active, it all depends on how much activity you can do.

I think that applies to us all.
