It was not uncommon to completely strip and disassemble some of the older brass "O" Gauge models. I remember my brother using a small media blaster with pressure from an ordinary air compressor. I'm not sure what the media was. Perhaps it was glass at low pressure. Maybe walnut shells. I'll find out.
