Spectrum 2-8-0 Improvements

if you google spectrum connie drive axle replacement there is a step by step photographic and typed instructions method for doing the axle change on the Bachmann home site forum. Seriously good tip tho, if you have the original polystyrene packing from the box use the top of it as your work cradle as you can push the screws that you remove from the chassis into the styrene and then you wont lose them, it took me about an hour all told and its seriously good advice to clean up the gearbox and replace the grease with something good, my personal recomendation is Tamiya ceramic grease its normally used on the differentials of high speed R/C cars.

Well it looks like I'm going to be undertaking the axle change sooner than expected. Purchased another connie, this time second hand (at a very good price), but alas its main drive gear is stripped! Cat was out of the bag when I placed in on some rails and rolled down a slight incline!

I've contacted Bachmann spares department, and they don't have the replacement axles in stock, so are awaiting a shipment from the states!
