My spare parts logging caboose bash only used 1/2 a USA boxcar body and roof , after I finished it I decided to try to using the leftover boxcar sides to bash a small boxcar:

the sides and roof are USA, the end panels are corrugated styrene over a styrene base with wood reinforcing in the corners, the doors are from the parts bin and a bunch of USA grab irons.
The whole thing fit very snugly over an basic HLW minicar, painted:

Both this and the caboose are due for an inkwash then matte spray coating, but for the time being they are done.

Thats a nice dinky little box car:thumbup: Like the coupling pockets too!

HI Victor
Nice job, i wish we could get HLW minicars over here but no one is importing them because of the shipping costs.
Graham shrewsbury.

How did I know, as soon as I saw the photo, that this must be a Vic Smith creation. And no, I didn't see the author. I clicked on the topic before even looking at whose it was.

The Hartland mini series car are great. They're priced right and are easy to work with. Over here, Wholesaletrains.com has them at the best prices. Trouble is, on the last item I purchased from them they would not let me return it. The fault was with their on-line product numbering. So I have a moratorium on purchasing from them at the present time.

Maybe we just can't see the desired effect yet and need to wait for the final paint job.

Very nice dogs, but no pictures of the project. I see that the original post was in April 2013.

I used to know this violin player who named her dog "String" so I see no reason why "Boxcar" couldn't be a modeller's dog's name.

Box car?

Not even a boxer dog....
