[solved] Identifying Decoder In Lgb 21360 Koln Tram

I just acquired my first tram which has a built in MTS (presumably) decoder but I am trying to identify which decoder. CV 8 = 123 = Massoth, CV 7 = 24. Pictures below. The manual describes some of the CVs but I suspect not all of them.

The tram works well so why do I need to know this? Three reasons:
1 - red light does not work when tram goes backwards; there is nothing wrong with the LED but no power is supplied to the relevant pins on the LI-REAR plug socket, and I am wondering if this is down to CV setting

2 - I am trying to figure out what the white plug called F1 does, and can it be controlled with a function key

3 - how to add sound; I might invest in a full blown sound decoder like Massoth S or I might do something cheap and cheerful with a simple "greeting card" sound chip and speaker, possible driven by F1 plug

Combined board built by Massoth for LGB..
Not familiar with that model, but am guessing there are white lights to the front, and a red light to the rear? - Red light 'on' when moving forwards, but goes off moving backwards, perhaps??
The CV's will (I expect) be pretty standard, so look at the likes of a Massoth 'L'.
Obviously, write down what values are presently set, and change a single CV at a time and check the result..
The 'F1' connector will (most likely) be controlled by function key one on your handset.

if you can read and post the CV values from CV50 to 55, we can be more helpful.

I seem to remember problems with the one I had. Nothing wrong with the tram but the instructions were wrong concerning the switch inside.

Ref the lights, correct, there is a white front light (filament bulb) and red rear light (LED) at each end. In one direction the white and red come on at the appropriate ends, but in the other direction only the white comes on. Not the end of the world but annoying.

Ref CV 50 to 55 they are as follows:
50 5
51 1
52 128
53 64
54 2
55 0

I'll take a look at those links in a minute Gizzy.

I checked on my notes for the switch.
Pos 0 All power off
Pos 2 Track power to motor & front light only
Pos 1 Track power to motor & front & rear lights (including red taillight)
Pos 3 Catenary Power to motors & front & rear lights (including red taillight)

This is not as in the instructions
 
That's interesting Mike, let me try the switch in position 1.
 
Yep, having the switch in position 1 fixed the red light problem, thanks Mike.
 
Yes Alan I never expected that, but lesson learned.

PhilP PhilP did those CV values in posting #5 help in identifying the decoder? The LGB documented CV settings do not match Massoth L documentation, but maybe they are wrong as well. For example the LGB instructions say writing 55 to CV55 resets the decoder but I tried that and it had no effect that I could see. So I'm a bit puzzled.

I suspect that the decoder would be based upon the LGB 55021 decoder more than the Massoth Emotion L going by the CV listing in the documentation (as the method to reset CVs to default is consistent with the LGB decoders and not Massoth).
