Most odd. I was told by "Thumper" that Rob says he's closed down Sabre Steam because of the libel (sic) and an illness. Apparently he couldn't sell it.
It's most odd that someone who tells his US agent that he is closing down the business redesigns the web site at the same time.
Still, we've been warned.
I received a very nice present yesterday from Gordon Watson ("taperpin") of a new grate/ash pan and blast pipe for my Annette. I have tried the grate and it is . . . . grate. The next step is to try the blast pipe. Full report later.

Steve, I need to set a couple things straight. First, I'm not a Sabre Steam "Agent" in the US. I considered myself a friend of David Cooper and I offered some help to his son who was attempting to continue the business his father started. In that regard, since I go to the Diamondhead, Mississippi International Steamup each January, I offered to demo/display and possibly sell a loco for Rob. If that makes me an "agent", sobeit, but it isn't a formal Agency relationship. I was truly hoping Rob would follow in his father's footsteps.
Now, with Rob telling me a while ago that he was attempting to sell it and then writing that Sabre Steam was closed, imagine my surprise to learn that a new site appeared and to top it off, my original testimonial was on the front page of the new site.
I've written Rob asking that he "cease and desist" further publication of my testimonial. I also shall do so with the owner of the new site. A copy of that email together with and exerpt from the email Rob sent me a couple days ago that he closed down the business follow. I hope this helps.

Subject: Remove Testimonials from both the OLD AND NEW INTERNET SITES
August 26, 2011
Rob, please remove the testimonial written by me about your father's work from
both the OLD and NEW Internet sites.
IT IS NOT AND CANNOT BE CONSTRUED AS BEING A TESTIMONIAL IN SUPPORT OF SABRE
STEAM AS IT EXISTS TODAY AND THE PRODUCTS IT PRODUCES TODAY! REMOVE IT FROM
BOTH SITES IMMEDIATELY, AND PLEASE BE COURTEOUS ENOUGH TO CONFIRM THAT IT HAS
BEEN REMOVED.
As a result of your email to me that you were closing down, I had no reason to
ask that the testimonial be removed. Now to SEE that a new site is now up in a
new format with my original testimonial on the front page is disturbing to say
the least.
Because of my concern about the misuse and possible misrepresentation of my
statements, a copy of this text and the email you sent to me telling me Sabre
Steam was closing down will be posted on G Scale Central.
Also, regarding the locomotives you sent to me for display and possible sale at
Diamondhead, you are aware that they were not in fact displayed as they were
not in marketable condition. You are also aware that both are in the process of
being rebuilt at this time because of SERIOUS mechanical and finish problems.
Again, I'm instructing you to immediately cease and desist in your unauthorized
presentation and distribution of testimonials I had written about your father's
work in building Annette No. 6.
Regards,
Will Lindley
