Ruritanian Railways - 2013

I am happy to report that the WWSR is a clean railway, and Stainz free.

While I like to see them running elsewhere, somehow they just don't give me that je ne sais quoi to fork out some dosh for one.

Is it that I automatically link them with 4-wheel stock, and ceiling mounted displays in Beatties and others ??

Undoubtedly. The fact that you're reading about Ruritanian Railways makes it a certainty.

Funny things, Stainzii. So many love them, whereas....:'(

We do have one somewhere, unused metal valvegear one, but it's fate will be a bash of some kind.

I believe it may be illegal to model in G scale, but not possess a Stainz.
Perhaps a topic for discussion on another thread though. On behalf of Prince Rudolf, I reclaim this one in the name of the Ruritanian Popular Front.

A Stainz might look a little odd on an American themed railway but maybe one of these is as good???

Sorry Mike, that's just an Otto in drag.....

You'd just about qualify with a 2017, though (the USA-ified Stainz with tender)!

Jon.

Yes, an Otto that has been Porterised, unfortunately I sold the 2017 that I got from a member on the forum to our esteemed GSS secretary, Gordon, as it was not really Americanised at all and it would have taken a lot of bashing to make it look even acceptably so.

Ruritanian Railways regrets that after a fly-past by the Ruritanian Air Force's Montgolfier squadron all services are cancelled due to adverse weather.....

Hoppers have been loaded with snow, ready to remove it when conditions allow.

Nasty white stuff - you're right in the middle of the worst forecast zone, aren't you Peter?

Jon.

Perhaps the prince should haver a double headed mallet plow? Or 20 Stainz with a plow?

I am concerned that the hopper may become overloaded with white stuff.....it is considerably heavier than invisable ballast:nerd::nerd:

Nah, leave them for a few days and they will be back to 'invisible ballast' once more.
Or does 'invisible ballast' become opaque white at certain temperatures?

With all that extra snow, you'll be needing that extra rake of 5 Silberhutt Hoppers....

Alas, some damn German bid more than Prince Rudolf.... :crying:

A brief attempt was made to run a snow clearing train a few minutes ago, but investigations revealed that snow has drifted up to a foot in places on Pootank Pass. All staff have now been ordered home.

Luckily the Peasants' Arms is open for business and Ruritania is well stocked with supplies of pork scratchings.

Snow has ceased falling, but the situation is looking bleak for passengers trying to get to the Pan-European Black Pudding Festival in Zenda this weekend.....

The line down Pootank Pass. Pootank Halt is just still visible on the right.

Zenda station. Since the aerial photo was taken, the p(h)easant tracks have been obliterated and the hoppers are now probably overloaded.....

Attempts were made to clear the Ruritanian main line after the heavy snowfalls of recent days. One of our venerable Stainz class locomotives was put to work in challenging conditions for a small plough.

The engine and a van full of emergency supplies reached Pootank Pass, rescuing two hikers who had been stranded for 48 hours in sub-zero conditions. A hearty dose of black pudding and curry sauce soon brought a healthy pink flush to their cheeks!

The train reached the foot of Pootank Pass in good shape, though the access to the quarry will most likely be blocked for several days to come.

The border station's platform was attained, but the depth of snow made further progress impossible as the light began to fade. Europe remains cut off from Ruritania for the foreseeable future.

My congratulations to the brave engine crews of Ruritania for their sterling efforts to clear the tracks.

Will supplies of black puddings and curry sauce be adequate for the duration of the inclement weather, or will it be necessary for supplies to be parachuted in by one of Ruritania's European allies?
