Looks well on the 'winter' train :)

Ta, but if 2 is good, three is excellent (old Ruritanian rude joke):

Proof that the Schoema really can now haul as much as an 2095 diesel up Pootank Pass can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q5i... weight per axle could haul.....

Is it the presence of the giant cat in picture 3 of post 6 that is causing those gentlemen to hold hands? Or do they do it anyway?

They are two of Ruritanian Customs' finest. Of what I could not possibly say.

That's impressive. Those are heavy cars.

It had to happen. News of "Mighty Mouse" reached the palace earlier this week and preparations were quietly made to accommodate Prince Rudolf with a special train today. Our photographer evaded tight security to snap the Royal Train on its succesful return to Zenda and managed to film the ascent of Pootank Pass from a hot air balloon.

By order of His Serene Highness, Ruritanian Railways' MD has been awarded a bonus payment equivalent to 5 years salary in recognition of this technological triumph. Comment amongst the media has been positive, though a leading banker described the award as "clearly excessive".

A rumour that "Mighty Mouse" may cause a reduction in the national fleet of Mallet locomotives was described by the MD as "entirely unlikely" . National railway observer Mrs Whatlep observed "fat ruddy chance. Tigger'll probably buy another engine instead".

[Mind you, the Rugens 0-8-0 as a single motored loco, is still king.

Sounds like a splendid idea. April 16th?

Today was Tuesday: also Tools Day in a concerted effort to get track power back in use for the start of spring.

First tool to get rid of the winter grot which always accumulates, plus umpteen leaves which have no social responsibility and waited until winter to drop off the trees.

Second tool to cut back the vegetation encroaching on the track. Yes, you're right. I realised after using it that I should have made this one tool one and the first tool the second. Thanks for noticing and yes, to save you the bother, I did feel a bit of a.....

Tool three and its friend, 10mm gravel. On hand to provide a base to raise those sinking slabs Pat & Mike tried to fix last week:

Removing the slabs shows some interesting holes. Mr Mole has been active and - hopefully - has a thoroughly sore head from hitting the slabs.

Mmmm Peter, I am not sure running the royal train behind that little fella is really acceptable.... whatever next! I think it better to be clear two mallets are absolutely vital to the kingdom!

Yes it's really all about weight - and I am pretty sure anything LGB can stand a fair bit more before you need to worry about gears/motors.

Significant quantities of 10mm were applied under the track and liberally into Mr Mole's tunnels. Fortunately, a little light battery power was available to provide entertainment:

Job done! The quarry building and office go back in place. It was slightly adjusted afterwards to straighten the left hand support. Anyone care to bet on high winds for the weekend? :@

Final tool: the track cleaning rubber. The first clean of the year is always the worst! Providing something is run every few days, it shouldn't be necessary to clean more than once a month. Nearly ready for running....

Oh yusss! Train number 1 ("The Ruritanian") prepares for departure from Zenda. A second locomotive will be attached to the train for the return working up Pootank Pass. The first circuit of the line will be with one loco at dead slow speed to check for any dead spots.

All working as it should, so the railbus joined in the fun too. Ruritanian Railways is fully open for business!
