I decided that today would be a suitable day for running Roundhouse Diesels.

Hi Casey,
Very nice pictures.
I see quite a bit of miniature timber decking used for platforms and alongside track on bridges and parapets.
How do you make it if I may ask? I assume it is home made.

There are eight Roundhouse Diesels on the CFR roster. Two the older "Cricceth Castle" class are in the workshops having their batteries replaced. Another "Harlech Castle" class diesel is away on another garden railway standing in for a failed Roundhouse Lady Anne.

So since I am not familiar with these beautiful little diesels, I'd like to know more about the battery issue. You mentioned having the batteries replaced. So I presume the batteries are supplied with the locos, and I am guessing they're not rechargeable. Would you mind going into more detail about the batteries ?

Dan, the batteries are rechargeable packs that are integral to the locomotives. Battery packs have a finite life and eventually need replacing. One loco is eight years old and will be on its third set of batteries, the other loco is five years old and will be on its second set of batteries.
The batteries are Ni-MH and are rated at 2100 mAh. There are eight batteries per pack.
These locomotives have had a very busy life and get used on the CFR all the year round.
