It was an easy build, as Rod said it would be. There are no hidden 'must do' steps in the German instructions, all you need to do is follow the pictures. :thumbup:

This was shot straight from the workbench onto the track (without checking if the track was clear)......

The worrying thing is that everyone who sees it calls it 'cute'... IT'S A STEAM LOCOMOTIVE AND IT SHOULDN'T BE DESCRIBED AS 'CUTE'! OK? :@ :rolf:

I don't underdtand why Regner decided to paint the boiler blue as it seems to spoil abnotherwise "cute" little loco. With the boiler top painted black and hardwood cladding with brass bands added to the boiler it would look very nice.
 
Going off at a tangent, I've added a nameplate (yes, it's obviously home made :) ) and moved the cylinder exhaust pipe to exit underneath the loco. I'm hoping this will result in a nice steam cloud from underneath the loco when I run it.

I'll post a vid if it works.

Oooh! I've just seen that we can upload a 400Kb file now, instead of the rather tiny 250Kb we used to have to shrink our pics to before :thumbup:
 
Could you not drill a small hole in the stack to put the exhaust pipe through? it might make the steam plume a bit more realistic?

That's a neat option mm, but that would require engineering skills and I aint got none! :bigsmile: For now, I'm hoping that clouds of steam from underneath might look rather dramatic.

I considered that on my VB gas fired Regner.
I decided against as I read somewhere that the exhaust, particularly the steam oil, could fall on the burner and upset combustion. I have no idea how valid this argument is, I just didn't want to find out the hard way.

You could fit a condensator box which you can buy or build yourself.
 
Don't put the exhaust into the chimney Tom,it'll bugger the burner that's why Regner don't do it.....Allan.
 
Stephen has the right idea,a condensation box,just a box with the exhaust going into it......

Cheers Allan, I think that's the way I'll be going. I think I can fabricate one out of sheet brass which will not only stop the huge plume of steam, it will also add a bit of bulk to the loco's outline.

Yeah, sweetly cute. :)
For the exhaust what if the exhaust ran up outside the funnel, steam would be in almost the right place. :-

Here is an off the shelf Chedder version which is prbably too big but the derscription explains how it works and would be simple to make:
