Hello
I am looking to lay my hands on an equivalent of LGB R3 double slip set of points. Any ideas?
Am I correct in thinking that LGB track is code 250. Is Aristocraft/USA Trains track also code 250?

Bill; LGB, Aristocraft, USA and most other "G Scale" set track is code 332 and they are all compatible with each other.

Peco and other specialised track suppliers offer code 250.
 
If GRS don't have any in stock then I'm sure they'd get one made to order.
It won't be cheap, but then again two new LGB R3 points back to back wouldn't be cheap either.
 
The LGB double slip is quoted as R2 (although some say it is closer to R1) and as far as I know there is no commercially available double slip in larger radius. As Neil says GRS will be happy to get one made for you.
 
Apparently Piko are "about" to release a R3 double slip, but I think Gizzy would suggest you don't hold your breath. There again if you aren't in a burning hurry it could be worth waiting for.
 
Happily recommend GRS handmade, wood sleeper stuff. Have a lot of their standard 6 ft radius stuff on my line, including a double slip (cost me £90 2nd hand on here, they do show up now and again). The double slips off the peg are code 332 rail and cost around £200 and are made to match in with the 6ft radius items (and LGB R5) points. For example, you can fit them with LGB point motors, SSVR air powered or Tenmille manual levers. As mentioned previously GRS will make you just about anything to spec, for a price. I think they have started producing an off the peg code 250 range now. Check their website.

GRS hand-made pointwork is excellent, but if you want an alternative there is also 3.0.1 models, who again will make almost anything you want to order; I don't know how he compares with GRS price-wise, I would imagine it's something similar. 3.0.1 doesn't have a website, but can be contacted by email at saxton@three01.freeserve.co.uk or phoned on 020 8360 5760 - the chap's name is Robin Saxton.

It looks like Thiel do a double slip based on 120cm radius, that would make it equivalent to LGB R3 (which is a smidge under 240cm diameter)

The piccy shows the nickel plated version, they make it in plain brass also.

You can get them from FGB-Berlin for a smidge under 400 Euros in brass

Funnily enough I have just received an e-mail from PIKO to say that they will not be making the G-DKW R1 double slip that they originally advertised here;

There is a lot of confusing issues with the LGB double slip geometry? It is roughly R2, but the important thing to remember is the arc angle of 22.5 degrees, which is the same as the R3 points. In a crossover configuration, you have to use the small LGB 11040 short straight track pieces to get the correct track centres of 185 mm.

To use with R1 points or the LGB 12360 3 Way Point, which have an arc angle of 30 degrees, you need to use the LGB 11152 short curve of 7.5 degrees arc.
