Hi Mel
a lovely day, but cold
steam and track power in harmony
until the little mite changed some points :)

Thats just when the safety valve pops !:nail:

Great photos though - and sunshine. Makes everything seem nicer.

The question is are fast train speeds alos essential ?
Great set of pics Paul.

To avoid too much steam in the pants, yes:bleh::crying:

cheers Paul

simply a very cute and interesting layout.
I wish i had this much space to spread a layout.

But i like especially the fact that the line looks like to have a purpose: going up that hill from A to B.
Its interesting to have those loops in an environment that ist NOT as steep as the Alps.
Often enough the really difficult railways were built in the "mid-highlands" like in Germany the "schwäbische Alb", the "Black Forest" or the "Harz" (well known to LGB-friends).

Must be a grat fun to run trains there......i think i´ll try one or two too today...

greetings

Hi Frank
the space and gradients [1:33] are fun to run - I've been out running in the sun today
the downside is large amounts of scenery, never seems to near finishing, and a lot of maintenance
this summer we're planning a loop through a tunnel around the rockery at the top end to allow continuous running - we have a run around at the moment

out in the sun yesterday - 2 sons home, so 3 engines in steam
Russell sporting safety valve bonnet, also used water top up valve system for extended running
all purchases from stoneleigh - also a new brakevan to make the log train more like the W&L where they seemed to run one at both ends

seen from the other direction
the shed is hopefully going this year as its rotting, after 10+ years, and the cats have taken a fancy to it :(

Lovely pictures, Paul.

Glad to see the Stoneleigh purchases being put to work. I do like the safety valve bonnet - I'm partial to a bit of Victorian/Edwardian "bling" on locos.

yes I hummed and haad for a while before getting one but I think it enhances the beastie

not much railway activity this year [or posting] due to work weather and family distractions
had a few runs this autumn after major leaf clearing and damage limitation
a view down the bends

on the main line, station enhanced by Cain Howley water tower from the Llanfair show

we have, though, started the next stage of development, removing the old, rotten, small, shed, and putting in new trackwork to reconnect the steam-up sidings
the new shed 12' x 6' can be seen in the background. the next stage - autumn or spring depending on weather - is stonework and bridging to connect it to the main line, then a return connection to the Highland extension to allow through running at this end
