Pwll Dylluan Railway - Welsh NG in the mountains

log train has repeated the earlier performance at the top station and is on the way back down the spiral passing the disused slate quarry
red tippers just visible top right - in middle station awaiting log train to pass via the loop
then it all starts again - until the steam runs out - or I get called in to tea

[the more astute will notice that the engines are alternately cab- or chimney- first, as the top is a run around and the bottom is effectively a reversing loop

Paul - the stainz on RC just keeps going til it hits something, so it's just the steamer that needs attention all the time. A quick stop for a photo when it looks about right.

always a pleaseure to see this line in action:thumbup::thumbup:

visitors yesterday - a GSC member over from Canada, and my brother, enabled 4 train running - 3 in steam, and the battery Stainz [operated by grandson, for the random excitement factor]

Cracking pictures Paul. My eldest grandson also adds to the excitement factor when joins in on a running session. Not sure my stress levels can take it though.

Lovely stuff. You definitely get the prize for most attractively rural setting.

cheers
grandsons [mine is 6] need to be involved
he asked why I was telling everyone what to do
I told him I was the fat controller
he inevitability asked "why?"
so I said because I'm fat, and I'm controlling
[ he gave me a look which said "remarkable insight old man, but as I'm not sure whether to agree or not, I'm saying nothing" ]

how about black and white to look like old W&L?
messed around with the tones to bleach it a bit like those in the book
tends to blurb out the background a bit [sorted out horizon and gradients too]

Wow ! That last photo, the black & white one, reminds me of a lot of the old English movies I like to watch. Just dampen down the lighting and place Basil Rathbone in the picture, and you have a shot at the Academy Award.

good time had by all
Yes, indeed, says the Canadian. First experience of live-steam running was most enjoyable and enlightening, and the generous Pwll Dylluan hospitality much appreciated.
Once I recover from jet lag, I have to get the electric mice with moving eyes fettled up for a trip across the border to Massena, NY, next month. Same time zone ;), this time.
Have just ordered parts to repair the damage from previous campaigns. Quite hard to find bits for out-of-production Lionel

welcome home, Chris
It was good to meet up with you and yours
If you have some photos of the railway please feel free to upload them here if you wish

Thanks, Dan
Basil Rathbone was the best Holmes in my opinion
although Benedict Cumberbatch is a close second
