Proposed Track Layout, With Help From A 4yo

Don't forget to leave top/side access throughout the tunnel, just in case!

Any station area. I agree with 'keep it simple' but just one storage siding may be good.

Maybe just a small station area on the long straight at the top of the plan, just before the long bridge starts..... perhaps a short passing loop there (fine if you'll only be running short trains) with a couple of sidings off it?

By the looks of the plan that may be a pretty stiff gradient and so a station (which one assumes the Miss overlooked) will have to be at the bottom, otherwise it looks good.

Ah yes, I'd overlooked the likely gradient on that straight to lift the line over the spiral going into the tunnel..... well spotted, Pugs! ;)

Jon.

I appreciate the comments, and yes, a station at the bottom will come at a later date. This is currently what can be built with stock on hand and a long mainline will one day find it's way into the equation.

As for the upper bridge, it will be followed by a long trestle to allow a nice gradual slope back down to grade.

The total height won't be that great but will allow enough visual interest to draw some attention.

Total length is around 8.3 meters, or 27-28 feet depending on what numbers you prefer.

All the track is Piko, I have taken stock of all that I have and used as much as possible to allow for the most length and most interesting layout.

always interested in hearing your ideas, please keep them coming!

That spiral to the Bridge could be a bit tricky. But on the basis that you need to go under the upper line in just under a Circle. Why not half the Gradients on the remaining Circlers.
1 Lowest Level is under the Bridge. Use thinest Ally for Bridge with all supports above.
2 Right hand curve rises to Half Height.
2a Where Curve and Grad is in Tunnel at Right, make like an Avalanche Shelter for access.
3 Front Straight and Loops Level.
4 Left Hand Curve raises to Bridge Height.
5 Rear Straight Level for Future Station.
If none of this works, your climbing loop will not either.

Based on the slope needed for the rear line, I don't believe a station back there would be feasable. But the front section between the points I believe would be the best spot fot a station and spur. Thoughts?

Sounds like where I would put it, Good Bad or Indifferent.

Well, ww finally broke ground on our first track layout, I'll be posting pictures as I go.

A little more progress, its been raining for days . . .
Looking at the House and Track Plan you appear to have a long set of tracks right next to the House. Access to those would be across the Garden, have you thought about Tredding Places or even a simulated Road to get to the other side. Not just for Model but House Maintenance, Window Cleaning etc as well.

There will be a lot of gravel so plenty of room for access and maintenance. But thanks for the insight.

Well aside from having a bad sinus cold; I was able to push forward on the construction. Heres a few pictures. Still in the boring stages.
