How do we send a private message to another member ?
 
Dan - look at the top right of the menu bar, you'll see a little version of your avatar pic, then a square icon with downward arrow in it, then a bell icon, then a magnifying glass. The one you want is the square with the arrow, click on that and it will take you to your "conversations" page, click to start a new conversation and enter the member's name you want to talk to. It's just like the old PM system under a different name, EXCEPT that now you can have multiple people involved in the same conversation if you wish, or it can be just one-to-one.

No except - you could always have a multiple member PM.

I hovered over the little avatar pic as you said, but none of those items appear. Never mind. My brain was working in the wrong direction.

Yep, that's the little square icon with the arrow that I was trying to describe - the screen shot is so much easier.....;)
