Pricing Playmobil

Hi all,

I'm hosting an Open Day on Saturday and someone has approached me about selling me their Playmobil train collection OR selling it at the Open Day. The problem is, I've got no baseline for what a fair/reasonable offer would be (beyond the usual free market answer of 'what the market is willing to pay')

I've included some pictures below and would appreciate any advice. Also, if anyone is interested in it I can broker a deal on your behalf and ship it to you.

My best advice would be to see what the prices are on EBay....

The Railcar probably valued between £75-100. Train set probably more, but as ever a lot will depend on how they run. Though as they are boxed condition could be good. Crane recently offered in PM sale, I think just under £100 but that was brand new.

It's hard to say without seeing everything there. If they are complete and running well, they are worth more than if they are incomplete or non-functioning. Just because they function does not necessarily mean they function well. If they don't function, it might be an easy fix. And just because they are in the original boxes does not necessarily mean they are complete. It looks like there are 2 or 3 4018s ? ...and a 4019. I look for deals and consider most listings on ebay to have inflated prices. I have seen some 4018's for about $80-$150 without track and missing pantographs, and I've seen some 4019's for about $150-$300, though I got one for about $60 (a good deal) most recently (with track, but missing a few parts). You will mostly see people trying to sell them for $400-$600 but I think they are dreaming that people would pay that much. Someone somewhere paid that much and the sellers hope that they can have such a profitable sell as well. My thrifty mind says the MAN crane thing is probably worth around $100, maybe more if it's got everything and in good order, though I wouldn't pay more than $60 personally. The large trees are probably $5-$10 each. Of course you will see stuff on ebay for higher prices, but the over priced ones will not sell as well and will have a larger representation on ebay due to them not selling and being re-listed multiple times. I imagine it's probably best to sell the sets individually rather than hoping someone will make it easy and buy everything. The track is probably $2-$3 per section, though I probably wouldn't pay more than $1.50. I think Dunnyrail is correct about the pricing of the passenger car with bicycle compartments, though I got mine for $40 a couple of years ago.
