Retired, but still hoarding. (GOF)

Just come across a listing for this new model £857.00 - should I or shouldn't I? How do I smuggle it in and where do I hide it?

I would say send it here, and I will look after it for you.. ;)

But I am running out of space!:eek::rolleyes:

If you do, Mike (and you will....) we want to see lots of pics and a full review! :D

Just read this "surprise" which comes with the digital version: A lowerable coal heap in the tender :lipssealed:
(translated from the PIKO website)

The digital version (# 37241) of the BR 50.35 is equipped by the PIKO designers as a surprise with a yet unannounced, another highlight:
The function "Lower coal heap with locomotive interference" was developed specifically for this locomotive for digital operation. The coal pile is lowered by a motor in the tender of the locomotive.
When the loco is idle, no coal is being consumed. Once the lowest coal level is reached, the locomotive speed is reduced to a low speed step and the locomotive can then only be controlled up to the maximum of this step.
The coal is "refilled" via the special function key F7. In addition, the locomotive offers several adjustment options to adapt this operation to your own needs.
Thus, the duration of the lowering of the coal and the locomotive speed according to the "coal consumption" can be adjusted individually via the CVs.

As the RRP in Germany is €1,200 (£1,030) with 20% off (best you'll get from UK PIKO retailer) that's £824 so it might be worth giving Darren at topslots a call first.

Top Slots are quoting over a grand (£1012) for the analogue version.... and that's after their "discount", they are claiming that the retail price in Sterling should be £1350!

Prices for German and other European Mfgs have always been above that we would pay in UK. I have in the past imported from Germany and on EBay you can find TopSlots types of dealers you may do a little better than DAVE suggests. However you then subject the beast to the evils of the Post System and if anything goes wrong have to send it back to Germany yourself. As they say you pays your money............

So topslots are giving 25% discount but t would seem that the UK distributor is adding a huge markup. So maybe Mike should go for the £857.

Just looked at Gaugermaster (UK importer of Piko stuff) website, analogue priced at £1,195 sound at £1,350.

I see that Herr Doktor Wilfer is in the driving seat again (literally).... :D

Certainly looks like a 50 to me, any faffing with scale to fit in is lost in the superb casting, though I expect the Front Face View would grate slightly if shown next to a Pic the real thing possibly being a little shy of correct Gauge relationship. The Tender Gap is a bit (well lot) on the large side, but with all that is needed for the connections to varying Electrical Gubbins (and accessibility to join it all up) not sure what could be done to correct that though the RHB 2-8-0 of old managed it quite well.

Very nice video! With this loco you definitively need LARGE radii. I think some supplier will offer soon fine-tuning parts for the loco front (brake hoses, steps, steam couplings etc.)

Wow, that's an impressive video! Probably the best smoke plume I've ever seen from a production electric model....

Jon.

You could get away with that whistle in a British outline model, I reckon?

A superb video that shows the model locomotive off to perfection.

David

I am surprised the steps are missing? - Wonder if there is a bag of detailing-parts with the model?

Great video, think I'll be in need of some more DR wagons for the loco to haul when it arrives......
