Ah, Glasshopper, my Google-Fu is strong today....
For those of you interested in such naughty things, with a bit of searching I have tracked down where the old Phoenix Phollies range ended up after they were sold off on Phoenix's closure - they are now being produced by a French model soldier manufacturer, here:

http://www.metal-modeles.com/page_F...&id_categorie_principale=60&recherche=ok.html < Link To http://www.metal-modeles....&recherche=ok.html

They seem to have pretty much the whole range of the 80-90mm Phollies and others, including the "schoolgirl" with the icecream and the French Maid already "featured" in this thread.
They're flippin' expensive, but at least they are still available!

Jon.
Will you be bringing some of these figures to our indoor meet on saturday Jon? I think the wench with the hard hat & Kangol would look good carrying out some track maintenance.

Having checked out the frontier models catalogue should I be concerned that I noticed that the barrister figure has the ruffles of a wig but they have been painted as hair!

Nah mate that's called attention to detail that is.

Cracking thread this. I think I've learnt something about painting figures too :laugh:
Do I get some merit points for starting it?

I think I will pass.......comes with maturity ( and the prices) :rolf::rolf: mainly the prices......!!
:D
Jesus Ross forget the maturity... The prices stun me. BUT if you had one a silcone rubber mould would enable the manufacture of a seething plethora of such figures....

Tony
I wish I had the skill to sculpt figures out of poly clay....
Anyway all the swingers in our group seem perfectly normal to the casual observer...

But that's recasting, and very naughty, Trev - as someone whose business is whitemetal casting and has suffered from recasting piracy in the past (thankfully only on a relatively small scale) I feel I must administer a virtual slap on the wrist for suggesting such a thing... <SLAP!>
;)
Jon

PS I do agree about the prices, they are high, but pretty much normal for that kind of "specialist" collectors' market.

What would you expect from someone who is descended from the British Criminal class sent here for similar petty crimes?
Sorry.... I had no intent of causing you financial loss.

No worries, Trev, my response was rather tongue-in-cheek - and after all, these aren't my figures! Everyone in the industry accepts that a certain amount of recasting is a fact of life, and if people are doing it just for the personal use then it's pretty much ignored - it's the nasty few that pirate figures and other stuff en-masse then sell them on eBay that really annoy us, because they are next to impossible to have shut down without huge costs and hassle.

Hi Stuart - no, sorry, I don't actually have any of these myself - the ones I do are much smaller! You're right, the girl with the jackhammer (bet she didn't get THAT from Ann Summers....) would look great just slipped in among a gang of Preiser track workers, it'd be wonderful to see folks' faces as they noticed her! :rolf:

A quick serious question about Saturday - is anyone bringing some Massoth control kit along like last time, or are we going to be on analogue only again?

Jon.

I have much pleasure in announcing that I WILL NOT BE REPRESENTING AUSTRALIA in minature figure painting at the olyimpics....
I have been repainting my Bachmann tram crews ( in SECV uniforms) so that they don't resemble a German U Boat crew. I doffs me lid to you guys who seem to have mastered this skill. I'll be buggered if I can get anywhere near as good as as the examples posted in this thread...
It looks like when I get home I'll have to venture back into the Lycra clad dragons lair for lessons....
I'll post some pics when I get a chance.... Just letting you know so you can all have a good preemptive snigger....
One question... What do I do with the reward points?

Enjoy the kudos that comes with them, Trev, but that's about all :rolf: :rolf: :rolf: :rolf:

I have come to the opinion that red sable brushes are maybe good for some paints but for acyrlics I have found that Taklon is better stays in shape and delivers paint smoothly cleans easily and needs no after care plus they are a lot cheaper.
I'm using Tamiya and Jo Sonjas artists acrylic paints mixed with a drop of acrylic matte varnish works very well. The matte varnish retards the drying of the tamiya....
The flesh tones I found that Citadel ( games workshop) Dwarf Flesh followed by a thin wash with Gryphonne Sepia and I get an acceptable result, looks sort of "Bronzed Aussie":rolf:
I also give the finished paintwork a coat of matte artists varnish (non yellowing water based polyurethane - don't ask how the chemistry in that works) to give a uniform weatherproof finish excepting shiny shoes etc...
I'm looking forward to getting my plastic figures form "We Honest Team ":rolf::rolf: so I can start painting them
Camera is dead so wait for the pics....

That's very interesting, Trev, because these figures do NOT seem to be the "Chinese knock-offs of Preiser" that the guy thinks they are.... I believe that they are actually the pack of four figures that Trainline45 released a couple of years ago, original designs of their own, and looking at the painting (and the price) I think these are actual legitimate packs.... so the seller is rather shooting himself in the foot with his description! &:

Jon.

And they are quite honest... good to deal with 2.... I complained that my stuff had not arrived 2 weeks after they said it was posted and they immediatly and without arguement sent another lot off, now I have 2 for the price of 1....
