I am looking for a spray paint in the USA that is a match to LMS Crimson Lake, or as commonly used in the model railway world, Rover Damask Red in the UK. I have a Bassett Lowke LMS Crab mogul that needs a refresh in the worst way. Also, if someone has access or knows where to purchase the transfers, including the "Lowko" transfer for the rear of the tender, I would appreciate the help getting that decal/transfer set. I do plan to join the BL society at some point soon, but figured someone over in the UK might be able to assist in a single set of decals. Thanks in advance. Mike

How old is the loco? If it's very old, wouldn't it be better to show its patina of age? Some of the nicest locos I've seen are the ones which show use. (Rule 8 etc etc)

Someone already did that with a poor attempt at refinishing. This is why I got it for a keen price. I wanted this version over the Stainer Mogul as the cylinders are higher set, giving better clearance for the pilot truck swing. Worst case, I will go with the black LMS scheme. Someone already resprayed the boiler, but the cab is black, then painted some things gold. The tender has lots of runs and blotchy colors due to no primer under the color coat by the looks of the pics. Now my gauge one Titley Court, that has beautiful patina and will be left as it is.
