Wall to wall sunshine here on the North Yorkshire coast yesterday and the same forecast for today.

So that's where the currant bun has got to! Don't let it roll over the cliffs - I'd like to see it again!

I did print off your post and took the instructions outside with me. I get the flower but no magnifier! It says 1m (one metre) in the window and shows an exclamation mark and a shaky hand (need to put it on tripod).

Going to ask my brother how he set it - he's just arrived!

It did have a sprung bow collector (as per the pics) but I forgot to tie it down one day and it hit the tunnel opening! It now has two dummy trolley arms - made from welding rods (one bent upwards and the other as though its tied down!). ...

Well, this afternoon has proved interesting. First my brother called round and I asked him if he could sort out my problems with the camera.

Answer was that it was locked on manual focus. So, whilst he was demonstrating, the doorbell rang (well it plays Beethoven's 9th!) and it was the postman with a pressy from England! Mike (Rhinochugger) had sent me a replacement Bachmann RC!

So then my brother says that the light would be better outside - so I says that I have the perfect thing to test his skills (and my lack of them).

Listen here! I'll have you know I have the wife's permission to say that I am in charge! Would that mean the lunatics are running the asylum? Sometimes I think I've more control over the weather:rofl:
 
Ah, I wondered if being on manual focus was the problem but decided it couldn't be, underestimating your ability to do things wrong!

As for the sun, wall to wall here again from 0800 or so until late pm.

Even after yesterday's mini tutorial, I'm still getting it wrong! And, as for the sunshine, I feel envious!
 
Well, yesterday's trial of my newly acquired TX for the BH was not the only train to run. A few hours earlier saw Thomas out for an airing ...

So, now on the outer circle, the clatter of the carriages ceased for a couple of seconds as Thomas cut himself a daffodil (a date late?)...

So a ray of sunshine (metaphorically) was added to the proceedings.

They were not the only two trains yesterday. I got another RC train tested and running so It could operate today.
 
Good photos there, Mick, and nice strong again colours. The mix of greys and greens on your layout make a good backdrop for the locos and rolling stock.

I know! Its my brother that dishes out "how to do it" - as he doesn't pause for breath I don't always get it! As for the sun, it's the same here!

Thanks. The greys match the sky perfectly. The green stuff needs some serious attention though - its growing faster than ever. As for the hebes - the're due for lopping!
 
Well, yesterday turned out better than the weather forecast! I managed to do all sorts of things including running a train! ....

It turned out so mild that I ended up with a fly on the windscreen! .....

put together from two separate purchases, I intend to completely alter it into my version of a Dublin Luas tram.

I was (and still may) convert it to track power as batteries don't seem to last long. I wonder, seeing the recessed mouldings on the windows, did it ever have a roof? Obviously, as it is, access for populating the interior is easy.

If I convert to track power, then I'll have the basis of a RC diesel! But it will have to wait - it's on the Round Tu-it list.
 
What you've got there, Mick is the 4011 version with working lights and the 4119 centre section originally designed to go with the earlier 4016 and 4018 versions which hadn';t working lights.

The centre section is a bike/car carrier (the Playmobil "Smart" car fits in nose first) but was never a big seller. It's a bit unstable and very heavy and tends to kill the performance of the RC motor, as well as gobbling batteries.

Converting to track power is easy. Buy a Playmobil track powered motor off, say, plamoking on eBay. Remove the RC motor. Carefully align the other motor in its place and mark where it goes. Put some heave duty double-sided sticky tape on the motor and fit it in place. Place train on track and add power.

Thanks for the info. I have a complete working tender off of the Steaming Mary - I was going to use it when I finally get around to building a loco. So I have a couple of options I suppose - could have a RC tender for my loco build or I could install a power bogie (in my psuedo tram) from something else!
 
After today's midday meal,I went out to take Sandy (goat) something to cheer him up being stable bound during the long periods of rain. Soggy field but, as I squelched back to the gate, the rain started to slow down.

Carpe Diem I thought. Rinsed the wellies in the foot trough and went into the shed. Didn't no how long this break would last so I got the two BHs out and ran one on each line ...

And of course, the cats were out to see what I was doing so I have to close the shed door - ever since I accidentally locked Tomas in and he sent various things crashing to the floor. My arched bridge ended up damaged. Doh!

Mae stayed for about 30 minutes..

After quite a few circuits, I switched off the TX and then grabbed the locos to switch them off. With everything put back in the shed, the rain started again!
 
Well, I managed a few circuits yesterday between the almost continuous miserable weather.

There was a very compelling reason to run a BH RC train again. If you read my last paragraph above - I did indeed switch off the TX (Rhino - look away now!) and put the stock away. But I forgot the TX!!!!!!!

I didn't realise that I had forgotten about it until I went out to check on the goat before battening down the hatches for the night. Still lying on the track but soaked in rainwater!

I took the battery out and removed the rainwater, wrapped it in a teatowel, and put it on top of a radiator.

So, as soon as the raindrops started to stop, I dashed out and put a loco on the track to test the TX. Phew it worked 100% OK. Boy, was I relieved! Bloomin eejit I am.

Anyway, I attached a couple of coaches and ran a few circuits...

I thought I would try it on the high level line (and even set the points) until I checked for obstructions!
