Hi Gordon. Trams to Roundhay Park (route 3) passing Harehills - those were the days!
First reserved track in Leeds from Harehills to Oakwood I think. Leyland buried more trams than any municipality:rofl:

Yes, you're right there, Mick on the number, it was indeed a 3. When the buses came in I seem to remember it stayed as a 3 but going round via Moortown there were two numbers, one being a 2 I think which didn't complete the circle, as it were, but went a but further up Harrogate Road and turned round to return to Leeds.

I've persuaded Diane that we will have a day out in Sheffield soon riding the trams there.

Thanks Mike - just keep having problems with the connecting wires breaking off at the plugs (will have to rewire I think).

I'm ashamed to say I haven't ridden on any of the new tram systems (even here on the LUAS) - only the T & W Metro when it became an integrated transport system!

I purchased a new addition for the Ox Mountains Model Railway (a sister company - the trailer layout). Offered by John Prescott (Two Jags) at some £40 cheaper than others currently for sale, I have acquired a James engine and tender to augument Thomas & Percy for the kids (at shows). There were some people annoyed (true) last year that I hadn't got one when I said I was going to during the 2010 season!

Anyway had to test it, along with my "cut & shut thing" - the latter well outpaced by James ....

The daffys - the high level line is out of bounds until I remove the bulbs. They were planted before the trestles!

Very nice, Mick, but I think you'll have to watch the greenery on the turning loop as the summer progresses.

Thanks Gordon. Its already growing and when the persistent stuff eventually falls from the sky it will gallop away into a jungle. At least our goats will eat the clippings:rofl:

Having got the James engine, I couldn't really afford to buy a rake of stock to drag behind it. I was thinking of making some trucks same size as the Troublesome duo but realised that I would have to be pretty quick to get them done in time for a week tomorrow (1st outing with trailer). Then I remembered (yesterday) that I had built some freelance vans (goods and cattle) about six years ago. I dug them out - also remembering that I had damaged one five years ago - and gave the three good ones a try out. Today I cast a couple of resin axleboxes and put the fourth one on the track.

I don't think they have operated on the trailer layout so I'm going to have to test them this week when I get the trailer out. Meanwhile, I took a few shots of them on test. Still some bits to do (unfinished after six years:rofl:) but...

Looks very good, Mick.

The Thomas range of engines (apart maybe Thomas himself with bit of lining) always look a bit bare to me with the expanse of solid colour on the sides and tender. If only the makers added just a bit of detailing, they would look much more attractive.

Thanks Richie & Gordon.

I agree about the "bare" appearance and lack of detailing - probably there is a need to stay faithful to Rev'd Awdry's originals I suppose. I probably won't buy any more as they get limited use - its a real nuisance having to take off 'normal' stuff and put on the Thomas range (speed incompatibility) - but the kids love them and the parents are pleased that the kids are happy (although there are tears at the end of the Thomas session!).

I had some of the first editions of Thomas the Tank Engine as a kid and really enjoyed them. I'm tempted at times to go that route, but the price puts me off.
