And cemented an ornamental stone brick in place

That gives me something solid to drill into for the bridge deck locating pins

Still cant make me mind up wether to leave the bridge like this,

Or add parapets

Really need to decide before I do bottom water feature,

as it will be a bit difficult to work on then

So as it was dry for a bit last evening, I put some formwork in place to get the levels right

& poured some concrete where the quay sidings will go,

This is not the finalised shape yet,

may alter it as I build up the edge of the pit,

But it gives me the levels to work from for the water

will only be an inch thick as wont get any wheelchair traffic, or any through use, being a dead end

As this hole to left of tree trunk,

is the hole for the electrics & pipe work for the pump for the water feature thro the planter

And I forgot to put a pipe in under the formwork for them to reach the water, DOH
Still I realised in time,
so now have to go and dig trench across & redo formwork

Remembered to put pipe in for water & electricity,
dont be tempted to use a small pipe, it aint worth the hastle.
Here its a rainwater down pipe, 3" pipe?

Did a bit more to the Quayside yard base

Widened it to cope with train widths

& also did the front retaining wall that the pond liner will rest against

left a few inches around base of tree to allow for wind sway

What I like about a railway in the garden,
it doesnt matter what slows me up, health , weather, shopping etc
The plants just keep on growing

Did a bit more shuttering to quay wall

in the bottom there, is a piece of strong rubber matting out of an old Ford transit minibus I once had,

keeps most of the mud off my feet

AND keeps it out of the kitchen

and me in MB's good books !!!!

we have had so much rain it collects & it gets right quaggy down there

walls 15 " deep,

water will be 12" deep, with 3" free way

fish will be chosen from goldfish in pond in front garden, black ones will be priority

plants variety has not been settled yet

metal grill will be needed to save fish escaping

Having sculpted the base of the canal basin, the soil in the bottom was covered with the empty bags that the sand & ballast came in.

pity I forgot the pic before I went on to the next step
