Can I just say here

that what works for me WHERE I LIVE

may not be suitable in other locations, clay soils, areas subject to frost heave, etc

May well need a much stronger foundation & construction ( reinforcing worked in to the design)

foundation laid & first row of blocks,

for rest of planter 1 as I was using up what was to hand & some blocks were heavy concrete ones,

I saved them for ground level to avoid having to lift them any height

Up to 3rd row of blocks above track level,

not many left now so it will be formwork & pour concrerte panels now probably,

thats what the mixer is for

The bricks on end with the holes in, are designed in for planting holes

so as to get plants growing out of cliff face

Re: Options for avoiding a sharp corner, Also on a severe gradient ( Hind sight is wonderful)

Right , so thats the shuttering taken down from Sat.

I like lots of planting holes on the vertical sides (cliffs) of the planters

so worked out how to do so in shuttering

after shuttering was fixed I cut some polystyrene blocks to wedge fit inside, & ensured concrete was packed up under them.

Thats the white bits, when the concrete is fully cured I will remove them

That Pergola support is going to be in the way

although for now garden plants will inhabit this bed

allysum, rock cress, Georgia blue perriwinkle etc

eventually a water feature will occupy the whole length

small brook etc.

Trying out bridge piece,

it will be bit closer to camera,

water feature mentioned in last post will come down around from this side

flow under bridges, into a harbour/lake area other side of that footing

to where the spirit level is lying there
