No Lights on DCC, U class loco

Hi all,

I've got a U class with full sound and DCC from a 20705 set. I can't get the lights to work when on DCC. They all work fine when on analogue. CV51 related??
Also am I right in thinking the loco can only deal with serial commands? And is it normal when sending a command in serial, for the function to be hit and miss, ie hit button 8, but get the button 5 function?

The hit and miss bit is possibly down to dirty track or wheels. Because the decoder just counts pulses, if it misses one or two because of a bit of dirt, you get a different command being received from that which was sent.

That may answer the problems I have been having recently but blaming the handsets. One puzzle though, on occasions I get the results for a button press higher than the one I have pressed. :o
Could that also be down to dirty track ie inducing an extra pulse or even 'splitting' one to make 3 into 4? ???

My little yellow starter pack digital diesel has also 'lost' its front/rear lights although the flashers work. Could that be a more mundane board fault......?

So after a lot of messing about, I've finally got everything working on both Dc and DCC. I think what fixed it was changing CV29 to '4' allowing analogue and DDC operation in 14 speed steps. It was set on '2' and then I changed it to '1' but looking back I don't know why...

?Seemed like a good idea at the time, I would guess? ;) :D
Glad you have it sorted.
