I have just removed a decoder from a fairly new Stainz (23211). There are no dip switches on the Stainz PCB. Did they fit a dummy decoder in these when made to save the cost of a DIP switch?
I want the decoder for another job so I need to convert it back to analogue.

The latest Stainzes have a (badly) redesigned motherboard with what amounts to a dummy decoder with both the obvious pins and two soldered connections between it and the motherboard. It makes going back to analogue very difficult at best. You can get an idea of the dummy board in the pictures in post 92 from this thread:

Your options are:
a) get a dummy motherboard - unlikely unless someone on GSC has one spare - and resolder the two connections
b) get an old 55020 decoder and install it as an alternative
c) rewire the loco yourself
Note that the modern analogue board used in many Marklin G locos is too wide to fit in the Stainz's boiler!
Thanks, that is just what I need to know. The pins line up with a piece of stripboard so I can make a dummy but I would have missed the hard wired link.
