Cleaning the trolley wire…..

Expensive but about the only thing Dremel market that’s actually any good. No, I do not endorse Dremel products! I have forgotten how many of the handpieces I have burnt out…. I use a rechargeable handpiece and it has internal overload protection and a rather nifty little chuck so I’m not looking for collets….
But this has made it easy to clean both the track and overhead. The little wheel things are best described as a disc of plastic scourer and when rotated at high speed need only a feather touch to polish metal and they leave no residue…
I just wish there was a generic available so I did not have to buy genuine Dremel…

Trev, I'm sure there will be a generic, though it might be too large. Speak to your local engineering supply factor, these type of things are used all the time in metal trades, along with flap wheels etc.

I must agree with Trev on Dremel products. Maybe Back In The Day, Dremel was worth going for. But like most tool manufacturers, they have employed marketing schemes that hawk a lot of useless accessories.

The next thing is to mount a motor and brush on a wagon and just push it round ...

they dont seem that expensive looked in my tool catalogue and they come out at a couple of quid each

Yes, I'm contemplating a weird battery powered track and overhead cleaner. I have tried most of the push along devices and really unless the cleaning pad vibrates/rotates they are not much chop. You have to also consider that you DO NOT want to scratch the parts your cleaning, if you do then you only provide places that will attract grunge. I have the one from Norm's Models and that may be a basis if I can work out a way to rotate the cleaning wheels. I'm working on it....

Yes I bought some full sized versions of these that fit my angle grinder and bench grinder and they do a brilliant job.... I used the one that goes in the Angle grinder to refinish the stainless steel kitchen sink, rather than replace it when the kitchen was remodeled....
