I have been trying to get LGB 10345 auto reversing to climb a mountain (4 feet high 2% grade) . I cannot get it to work. It is consistently short-cycling

If you look on You Tube and search for LGB 10345, you will find tutorials which might help....
 
I'm fairly certain that the problem of the loco reversing before reaching the break in the track is covered in the instructions, maybe to do with the wait time set too short? Or maybe the two diodes are are pointing in the same direction - they should be on the same side of the track and the arrows on them point in opposite direction and towards each other.

I increased the wait time in the station and that seems to have solved the problem. In addition, I cleaned the wheels of the locomotive. I had already tried 3 other locomotives so I do not think cleaning the wheels solved the problem but it certainly did not hurt.
