I take it that was at Warley? Hope it was a good event - I went along to a MUCH smaller show, Steam in Beds..... ;)

It was Jon.. busy show .. it's always good to see mates new and old..jenny spotted a nice older couple we talked to last year .and they are starting in g scale .jenny got a real kick out of the fact .it's just nice to meet folk

I must read my 16mm Mag much quicker, could have made Steam in Beds! But not Warley as I was meeting old work friends for a Curry at Camden on Saturday and traveling to the NEC on a Sunday with no trains from the Nits - forget that nonsense. As for driving on Motorways on a Sunday, do not even get me thinking about getting on a rant.

I did wonder about this vid with the Ts5 0-10-0t and the odd Metre Gauge Locomotives in the 2 Vids. But the Ts5 was a Metre Gauge Locomotive for the Nagold Altensteig line (if Wiki is to be believed). The Sachen Meyer at 750mm Gauge is a little out of place. But still looks good using the LGB flexible ruler.
 
Getting back to the original subject of this thread, the new LGB 20480 Sachsen VIk, has anyone contacted Modell-Land (or any other dealer) to see if they have REALLY got any in stock? I know that ML are showing it as available, but they seem to be the only one - none have yet appeared on German eBay or have been listed by any other dealer I've found.....

I have a 'call back' booked with Modell-land and have not heard anything yet.
 
Thanks chaps - yes, I'd had another look earlier this evening and spotted those two had just appeared under the German for "newly listed"..... ;)

That second one (Dave's link) is the same price as ML.
If two (three?) dealers now list them, then the shipments must be finally arriving..... so I think we can expect a few more to pop up over the next couple of days. Will try to restrain the itchy clicking finger until a few more are up and we can see what the best price is. The Pound has rallied just a smidge vs the Euro this week, and every little bit helps.....

It doesn't help that ML are also listing the Harz 6102 from TL45..... it doesn't seem right to have Pfiffi (6101) without her not-quite-identical twin Fiffi, does it..... :devil:

Quite - makes them look like two distinct locos, as they should.... I was trying to compare pictures and see that other differences there are on the two models, apart from the very obvious side tank lengths - the smokebox door has been changed (at least the positioning of the number plate, if not the actual door itself), but I haven't spotted anything else major...... mind you, how many differences are there between the real sisters, Fiffi and Pfiffi? One is superheated while the other is not, but does that result in any visible external difference?

Earlier this year when I saw LGB 33350 in the catalogue my immediate thought what a load of rubbish, who would buy something like this:

However, after watching a couple of videos from the SOEG on utube I realised that the LGB model is quite a good representation of the vehicle operating on the SOEG so after a bit of humming and arring I took the plunge and ordered one which arrived last month.

I'm not normally a fan of gimmicks but I thought this one was quite good. It comes with a good speaker and a representation of a Dixieland band playing lively jazz music (of which I am not normally a fan) and singing a couple of songs - Danny Boy and It's a long way to Tipperary - in English with a quaint German accent!! Colour- changing lights are fitted in the roof. Also included is a group of four musicians which, according to the catalogue, are permanently installed, but on my model three of them were floating around the box upon arrival.

Translating the English language instructions into understandable English took a bit of time but, as I understand it, you can use the model as it arrived listening to the pre-recorded music or you can upload some of your own music if you want it. I'm going to leave it as it is.

The model comes with a micro-SD memory card neatly installed at one end of the roof which, they say, can be removed from the model and connected to a Windows PC. For those of a technical bent the model can only play back files in the WAV format.

The model is designed for operation on LGB two-rail DC systems with conventional LGB DC train controllers or power packs (DC, 0-24 volts). For those in the digital world the model comes with a factory-installed multiple protocol decoder (DC, DCC, mfx) with factory-assigned address of 03.

So far I've only tested the model on my Massoth using address 03. The controllable functions are:

- White lighting
- Start/Stop (the music)
- Greeting announcement
- One song forward
- One song back
- Louder
- Softer
- Colour lighting
- Pause
- Toast with a drink
- Cheering
- Applause

Next job is to attempt to change the address of the model using my Massoth system. Fingers crossed that it will work.

Weather at the moment does not really allow running on the EG&SNNR so the plan at the moment is to first use the music wagon to celebrate the inaugural run of the (soon to arrive) Sachsen VIK next Spring. Something to look forward to!!
 
Two hours of C*****mas music on it, and it would become a moving target for the 12 bore!

There comes a point where we need to ensure that we don't take our railways too seriously, and for once, LGB seem to have hit the target :clap::clap::clap:
