Over the past week or so, I've been printing and laser cutting some Ffestiniog and Lyn Valley stock. These feature 3D printed chassis, modified to take 30.5mm standard wheels for better running, and either 3D printed or laser cut bodies. They are based on a couple of designs on Thingiverse, but extensively re-worked to make building them quicker and easier. Couplers are magnetic "choppers", of my own design, based upon the buffer unit supplied with the Bug Boxes, but modified to take a 6mm magnet. They work brilliantly, being more than strong enough to hold the train together, but very easy to couple and uncouple as required.

Some pics and videos. Loco will be coupled to the dynamic brake wagon, being used in the video as some sort of strange headless train. Perhaps a runaway....

A few more coaches built, and my Glyn Valley tram loco to haul them around, pending completion of my Double Fairlie.

The double Fairlie is coming along. I laser cut a chassis out of wood today today, to check fit prior to milling it out of aluminium. A couple of tweaks, but generally very happy with the result. I think the wheel size could increase slightly, but to maintain clearances while cornering, they will need to be slightly undersized.
