I just wandered through a DIY hardware warehouse and looked for the bits.

With 20/20 hindsight I should have used 90mm stormwater pipe and fittings as the tank car is a bit taller than the boxcar so clearance under bridges etc may become an issue.

Well the tanker looks the business - but maybe you could lower the domes if height is a problem?

Lowering the domes would be easy but then oil tankers had fairly high domes from what I have seen.
I have found a couple of pictures of Australian water tankers with relatively low domes/hatches so maybe the use will change.

Now that I have stopped taking heroin I had a brainwave (and didn't that hurt) maybe I should just put smaller diameter wheels on it. Will have to do a bit of mucking around with the coupler height but I'm not doing much for the next week.

Another bit of therapy.

This is loosely based (as all my models are) on a hand crane that I saw at the National Railway Museum at Port Adelaide Sth Aust.

Built on a wooden flat car kit that I buy from Sri Lanka (Ebay seller Pasidump), the gears are from an old printer and a child's toy.

Its Christmas Day and Connie ( Bachmann 1:20.3 2-8-0 Consolidation) gets to take her new train for a run.

With 2 Boxcars and the tanker, half of the train is complete, the next wagon is either a flat car or an open goods wagon/'gondola'.

The counterbalance is a piece of Balsa wood, there is hardly any weight in the body all of it is in the steel wheels.
