Hello,

Has anyone traded or used the services of mts-line.de recently? I placed an order with them just over two weeks ago now (I live in the UK) and received a fairly prompt message to advise that my item had been dispatched along with associated tracking number.

The item then appeared to arrive in the UK around 5 days later and was received by Royal Mail at Coventry. The item then did not move for another 6 days and was then advised that it was on its way back to Germany and was delivered yesterday.

I have tried everything to get in touch with the company. Their number always appears to be engaged and there is no response to their emails.

I don't really know the best avenue to proceed so was hopeful someone had either got an updated number to what is on their website or alternative means of communication with the company.

Thanks in advance,
James

Hello,
well, the last time I ordered something there were a few parts missing. So I also tried to call and mail them, no answer until now. I then tried to open a case on paypal but it somehow didn't work - at that point the few missing screws weren't worth the effort anymore.
I hope you will have more luck but I fear it'll be a lost cause :/

Thanks for the reply - glad to hear in some way it's not just me but also not great to hear that they have acted in that way towards you. In my case the order was around 60 euro - half of that was postage - for a loco to tender connector which seems unobtainable anywhere else.

I cannot see how they can continue to be advertising and taking orders but providing no customer service whatsoever. Seems very bizarre.

Even more concerned having read this:

Would urge anyone thinking of buying anything from them to tread very, very carefully and ensure you pay via PayPal, etc. to be able to recover any money laid out. I will see what my bank will do but not holding out much hope on this.

I have a few things in my basket with them, but knowing from experience how Crazy and random how Germany can be about exports and customer service (pre and post Britain's exit) I was going to wait until i was in the area and pick up next year.

If it got to the inbound import hub in Coventry then they must have done 80% of the paperwork correctly, but UK customs has rejected (Royal mail is the "partner" of GLS and DHL post) and shipped back, What does the ROYAL mail part of the tracking process say. Sometimes your GS or DHL tracking mumber will work with the RM tracking system and might shed some further light.

Looks like they are "struggling" like lots of retailers, online order are so important but often overlooked, especially if the items are not really in stock at the shop.

I've bought a number of G scale items from them over the years and have never had any issues...... but I'm not in the UK. :wasntme:

Not sure if somethings happened?
Brexit.
GPSR..
Tariffs...

All of a sudden, it has become more difficult to do business across borders.
All the systems have tightened up, and the low-value items / order limits, have / are being removed..

It won't change until 'the public' (across all nations) get p*ss*d off with not being able to get the things they want..
Commonest response, when I tell someone in Europe, 'sorry, I can't supply you..' is "you're kidding?" - They don't know about the change. If you are not in the club, it is difficult to join in.

I do think it is dependent on the firm.

I ordered some Massoth items from Railroadsandmore.de (via Ebay) Tuesday 09 Dec, and they were delivered Monday 15 Dec.

From the online tracker it appeared it took a day for advance customs clearance before it was sent from Germany, and was in the UK at Langley HWDC Heathrow Friday. I imagine a lost day on Sunday, slowed it down. Impressive.

But I agree Brexit has made it more difficult to import - a fact not a political view. It will become more difficult in March 2029 due to the low value items being caught.

Compare that with ten years ago, when I would order scuba diving equipment from a place in Girona (Spain) as it was 70% cheaper! Not a word of a lie, I ordered at 18:00 one evening, and (for less than a fiver) it was shipped out through Barcelona into Heathrow and arrived at my door before noon the next day!

FYI I noticed yesterday that there appears to be no products listed for sale any more on MTS-line.de. Hopefully will give them a chance to get on top of existing orders and back on their feet properly.

I recently sent a fairly high value parcel to Germany which took a little over a week to transit including customs. Brexit is Brexit - personal view is that it was at the time and continues to be a terrible idea that regular people are paying for, but trade is not insurmountable. I suspect that it was either my number or contact details not being included on the custom form, Royal Mail failing (or not being able) to contact me or a combination of the both.

Unfortunately the world has got so used to on-line buying, it doesnt really have the facilities for anything else, the high streets are evidence of that. Whilst it's a good thing for small businesses, when people start buying everything on line it becomes a problem.
