Last week I stumbled across a Stinz(sic) with sound tender on offer at 99p start price. I put it in my Watched List meaning to check on it near the finish time which was yesterday. Shortly before it finished my wife had a "crisis" on the laptop.
By the time I had sorted it the sale had ended WITH NO BIDDERS!!!!
OK I don't really need another Stinz or a Stainz but at 99p it was v desirable.:wits::wits::wits:

AH..u can email him to relisted it again.;) tht i do tht on ebay.wink

So, the seller either thought that it wasn't going to reach anything like what he wanted, and wasn't prepared to sell it for silly money - OR someone offered him a decent enough price to sell it off-ebay and he pulled it for that reason....

...which is against Ebay T&C for sellers... so I guess it was pulled rather than loose it for less than it was (perceived to be) worth.

This always seems one sided to me. If you place a bid it is binding but the seller seems to be able to cancel at any time.

Not half as one-sided as eBay's terms for sellers. You MUST accept Paypal (an eBay subsidiary). You MUST NOT charge a supplement to cover the excessive costs of accepting Paypal, or even a discount for payment by other means. You WILL be charged commission on the Paypal transaction value of postage too (a cost, not an income item). You CANNOT give negative feedback for buyers, even if they try to evade payment or negotiate a discount after the sale is completed.

That's the one I thought that it had just run out of time.:)

so ... how meny off you areprepared to sell a loco and powered tender for 99p?

BUT the bidding was already up to £50 before it was pulled!

That is curious. My link and Steve's above showed it as ended at only 99p.

Maybe if an item is pulled out of an auction, all bids are considered cancelled and therefore don't show up?

IF you don't want something to go for silly money, then you should set a sensible start price (or at least a reserve price, though I don't like auctions that have these - much fairer to set the start price at the minimum you are prepared to accept).

Jon.

Please note that the sound card had been removed from the tender on the item ...

I know "Rule 8" is prevalent amongst members of the forum (and follow it myself), but personally I didn't think that the two were particularly compatible with each other - good job we're all different isn't it !

If you click on [0 Bids] it will show the other bids that were cancelled.

Ergo an un-sound tender!
That has to be sharp practice. It is like selling a loco without motor.
I agree they are badly matched espec' with the rear cab sheet retained.

I learn something every day.
EDIT:- I just clicked the "Bids" and it showed "No bids have been placed." :holdon:

It does say "LGB Staiz with sound tender good runner with great sound" so if the sound board had been removed there would be a dispute.

I see, but this is a sheer misrepresentation by Ebay. How can they say in one place "No bids have been placed" and further down say that several bids have been cancelled if there weren't any? :impatient::wits:
I don't understand either how the seller managed to close the bidding precisely just one hour, to the second, before the offer ended.

Exactly my feelings. If the bidder who put £50 on wanted to back out ebay would not have allowed it.
